Building FocusedFeed (https://focusedfeed.app) an iOS app that lets you organize your YouTube subscriptions into categories and actually find the creators you care about. YouTube's home feed is basically useless if you're subscribed to 200+ channels. Half of it is Shorts, the other half is stuff the algorithm thinks you want. I just wanted a simple way to say "show me my tech channels" or "show me my cooking channels" without digging through noise.

So I built this, you sign in with Google, it pulls your subscriptions, and you group them however you want. Shorts get filtered out automatically. Working on AI newsletter digests too, so you get a weekly summary of what your favorite channels posted without having to open YouTube at all.

There's a web app(app.focusedfeed.app) but the iOS app is where I spend most of my time now.

This looks rough for e2b.dev, Beam, and others in this space. Even with e2b's fresh $20M raise, taking on Cloudflare is going to be tough.

I have been using 1Password for the last several years and am quite happy with them, except for the fact that they basically forced users to use their cloud offering with subscription as opposed to free iCloud storage after 1Password version 7.

Thanks to LLMs, I am now able to build iOS apps with Swift, which has been not only quite fun but also very useful since I was able to come up with a learning app that I wished existed for my kids with minimal effort. So I will definitely spend more time on that. Also, I'm trying to improve my time management and reduce distractions/procrastination. I enabled screen time for myself so I can create some friction between distracting habits such as social media, YouTube, etc. Also, I will be utilizing the Pomodoro technique more as well.

I don't recall exactly when but i tried this same app at least a year or two ago. I was super excited but results it gave was kinda underwhelming. But again this was a while back. Hopefully it improved quite a bit because i really like this idea.

Yeah this something i have been trying to improve. Taken Barbara Oakley's "Learning to learn" course and read the book(it is essentially the transcript of the book). It def help me better understand theory behind learning. On top of it i have been using Anki - spaced repetition tool - to solidify what i learned. Having a knowledge repo or a collection of notes that are written with your own words helps immensely as well.

Try Mongodb sales! Those guys were the sleaziest SAAS i have ever dealt with. Not only they constantly called, they messaged to everyone from my company that are my linkedin connection stating they are working with me while it was not the case.

Cant agree with this more! I have never met any sleazier sales reps than MOngodb.

Say you have bunch of ec2 instances with public ip addresses that runs an application that makes calls to 3rd party service. Say that 3rd party service allows only access from certain ip ranges, would you rather give them a single ip or hundreds of ips for them to whitelist? What you say may be acceptable for small infra but not in large setup.

Although this was not reported on the status dashboard, this also affected elasticcache as well.It was acknowledged by the rep on the phone and via email issue got resolved. We weren't able start/reboot any redis instances on us-east-1a so had to launch on us-east-1c.

I highly recommend this course. One thing i learned and have been practicing was how useful was memorization and spaced repetition practice of things i would like learn and understand.

So let say you have bunch of servers that your team has to access via ssh, how would vault help adding users public keys add it to ~/.ssh/authorized_keys of each machine? i am familiar with vault locking/unlocking secrets but not sure if Vault can help centralizing and deploying those keys to individual machines.

Any type of business that based on being intermediary between buyer and seller run the risk of "losing" customers. This holds especially true with service business. I ran a nationwide lead generation service which basically matches POS/Payment processing companies with retail/restaurant business which was purely performance based. No initiation fee, no monthly fees to enroll with only 5% commission on the closed leads. And guess what; even if i sent the business tens of leads (averaging $7000 value with at least 40% profit) per month they resorted to either not pay or simply became incredibly sloppy on follow ups so i required to be in the loop. I may have not bring in any additional value to acquirer of the service, but for the service provider i was offering them a qualified business opportunity which they would not otherwise obtained.

"Distributing Docker images within a private network also requires a separate service which we would need to configure, test, and maintain." What does this mean? Setting up a private docker registry is trivial at best and having it deploy on remote servers via chef, puppet; hell even fabric should do the job.

This was something i was planning to build soon for myself. Great job on the UI.One thing kinda bugged me was when you select the source from the sidepanel it collapses for each selection not allowing to select another source without collapsing. I am on OSX Yosemite/Chrome-Version 41.0.2272.104. Also is the backend Elasticsearch? Is the backend elasticsearch?

I have been using Anki for a while now and i love it. I wish there are more spaced repetition apps out there that are not limited to learning a language.

I once got a bill from Florida department of revenue that was close to 40000 for a company i started which had been registered for a while but had no real revenue. Turns out FDR applies the exact same methodology to calculate the dues by simply averaging or guessing revenues based on the industry you are in.
