Shameless Plug: I am building Proma.ai and one of the use cases we are pursuing is trucking freight operations management. I would love to chat with others in this space - both builders and buyers.

We are working on this exact thing, would love to give you a demo and early access. My email is in profile.

I have a historical perspective on this topic. Data Science popularity was rapidly growing and "R" was the lingua franca around 2010 - 2014.

I attended Strata conference in 2014 and after visiting various technology exhibition booths there, I saw a common theme: tech companies were building data solutions using Python as R was no good for the purpose

In a meeting scheduled to share my take-aways from the conference, I predicted "Python will emerge to be the language of DataScience in few years"

Talking about dark patterns, the email was sent after 5:00pm on a Friday before the long week-end.

Triplebyte team knew that their users were not going to like it and did their best to slip this through.

Triplebyte went from being a respectable company helping skilled hackers by-pass white-board interviews to being a prime example of unethical tech company in one stroke.

I disagree that nothing one could have done beforehand could fix that. The argument is not that there would not be a decline in share prices at all but the magnitude of it.

You need to have enough saved to survive 6 months w/o income is preached a lot in personal finance and somehow this is not practiced for businesses. It is understandable that cash-strapped startups can't afford to do this but the companies buying back shares to increase their stock price certainly could.

Love the product concept and the problem / solution descriptions. I am not your typical customer though as I was already aware of the limitations of existing solutions.

I just signed up for this and set it up in our website. I have a couple of questions: - Is the analytics realtime or does it take time to process events? - Is there minimum data threshold that is needed before anything shows up in the dashboard?

We have developed a POS for salons and spa and have been working with various in-store payment solutions - including Square. None of the existing solutions meet our needs.

I have applied for an invite - can't wait to get access.

Good point! I am planning to add this description to the site as well.

There are two problems in stock photo search. First, there are multiple marketplaces with different inventory and price structures. So if you are looking for stock photos that are not very common, you need to go to multiple marketplaces, search and comb through the results. We solve this by using APIs from those marketplaces to bring results for your search so you do not need to go and repeat your search at multiple marketplaces.

This leads us to the second problem. You now have a lot of photos to comb through. This is where the AI comes in. You "like" few of the photos in the search result that are close to what you are looking for and the AI learns your preferences to bring the results that are similar to the ones you have liked.

Lets say you are looking for a stock photo of a dog to use in your landing page like this one: http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-110687501/stock-photo-dog-ab...

Google Image Search API does not let you search multiple Stock Photo providers for photos. We are using APIs from multiple vendors to fetch the stock photos.

Secondly, our AI is geared towards stock photos. You can start searching for "dog" in aiphotosearch.com, then like a couple of photos that are closest to the one you are looking for and then refine results. We train a model that "understands" what you liked vs discarded and uses that to bring more results.

1. Fixed the title 2. Initial result is regular image search, you get results based on your keywords. From then onwards, you can like the photos you somewhat like and click Refine Results. The AI algorithm analyzes the photos you have liked vs. the others and brings results based on that. You are basically training your model on the fly. 3. Good observation on too many fonts, will work on it

tldr; I solved a problem that I had. Would love to get HN community's feedback.

Appreciate your feedback. I have not launched the app yet, it is in private beta. This is a hackers community. I am looking for fellow hackers willing to go through the e-mail wall to try what I have built and provide feedback.

There are lots of stock photo searches. But this one uses AI. So what? I have been buying stock photos a lot these past year. Every time, I have spent a lot of time (and the time value of money) finding the photo that I like. If you value your time at $100 per hour, the real cost of the stock photo that took you 30 minutes to find is the stock photo cost + $50.

I have a background in Machine Learning and it is my belief that the mind does use branch prediction. Take for example a scenario where you are climbing down a stair in your house. Your brain already predicts that you are about to land on the next step. Now if the step height was lowered than the usual, the prediction fails and you immediately focus back on the climbing-down process to see what has happened and prosecute whatever fall-back actions are needed to minimize disruption.

I think this is a little more tricker. When customers make buying decisions, there is "Nest, owned by Alphabet and not likely to be shut because they are broke" benefit that they get. When they fail to meet those expectations, it should and will certainly reflect on the trust for Alphabet. Mainly because of your argument: Alphabet has little control over the companies and one should stop expecting good treatment and product lifecycle just because it is under Alphabet umbrella.

Hi Trevor and Jared, thanks for doing this.

We have been working on http://growthzilla.com - a data driven growth solution for salons for a little more than a year now. We have paying customers since launch and have zero cancellations. Our customers love the product for 3 reasons (1) ease of use (2) effectiveness in driving growth and (3) customer service

The problem: we are growing slower than we would want. Is there anything you'd like to suggest?

Hello HN! I am one of the cofounders at Growthzilla where we are building growth solution for salons.

We just launched everysalon.com and wanted to get feedback from fellow hackers.
