I try to "think my own thoughts" but then I see them elsewhere all the time.

I was surprised to see Gab as a top reply to one of his tweets. Gab has a verified Twitter account, and it was offering itself as an alternative to the 'censorship'.

As a fan of nginx, I really liked your comment. In sleuthing after reading I came across this:

It appears that if the consul client has the right permissions it can restart the nginx service after editing the configuration file. It uses the consul templating engine to generate an nginx config file.

I haven't tried it myself but it looks promising.

.NET core has been a godsend in making .NET an interoperable option for cloud architectures. I'm continually impressed with the open source embrace from Microsoft.

I know this is just anecdotal, but my friends and I do heavily use Hangouts.

It doesn't have enough functionality on its own, but I've augmented our experience with a chatbot powered by https://github.com/hangoutsbot/hangoutsbot.

Obviously I don't think that this experience is typical, not everyone is a programmer or has a server on which to run it.

This will end up making facebook a more expensive place to advertise, but I doubt advertisers would stop given how much screen-time facebook gets per user per day. So really this is an overall benefit for FB, because people will spend more for the same amount of sales.

Have you ever had a post that ended up being liked by an odd subset of your Facebook friends? I certainly have had posts, that for some reason, only my high school friends end up liking.

I know this is only another anecdote and real data would be preferable. But I'm convinced that the described behavior absolutely happens.

This reads like it was written by a person on the hackathon team, who truly believed in his project. I sincerely doubt those two things were all the perks provided.

To me, he's just trying to paint a picture filled with drive. One where he planned on working overnight on something in which he believed. No need to insinuate tinder doesn't care about its engineers or draw cynical conclusions.
