I don't understand the logic that just cause someone is in a political party doesn't mean they can be evil and subsequently vilified.

Not sure I'm totally convinced of this software only argument.

I think of Nike as a brand that stands for high performance equipment.

Shoes, T-shirts, Golf Clubs, etc.

The software they have built around Nike+ has always felt second rate compared to software focused companies like Runkeeper.

I enjoyed my Nike Fuel band and was always hoping to see more innovation on this front from them.

I suppose they had to pick one or the other. This move allows them to have a fitbit software integration which will be big.

I would have stuck with high performance health monitoring hardware and integrated with every software vendor.

IMO this is much more interesting than a multi-billion dollar exit of a simple chat application

The examples to counter this are beyond just television.. people don't goto airports to get advertised with IBM or barracuda advertising.

People don't goto football games to watch the Goodyear blimp.

People never ask to be advertised to but..,

Where people go in mass, advertisers want to reach them.

There is no place people go consistently more than Facebook and they have the best mechanism for targeting so many niche sets of users.

And to argue facebook isn't culturally relevant vs TV. I'm a little bit lost with that one. Memes and videos everyone must watch are a cultural phenomenon heavily driven by Facebook.

The fact that Facebook advertising targets you so well (or not) is something that is a common conversation just like talking about the annoying (or not) commercials that exist on TV.

People don't watch television to watch commercials.

People don't drive on the freeway to see billboards.

This argument that advertising must be like google "advertise people looking for things" is not the value Facebook is offering advertisers. It's offering something significantly different and in many ways bigger. "Advertise people when not looking for things"

Clicked hoping for airplay or chromecast support. Maybe next time :)

Amen. Donald trump of startup would be bad. Lets take one of our most public entrepreneurs, Jason Fried & 37signals, and extend this out.

If Jason was "Donald of startup" he would then create a "get rich like Jason" book series. Of course 37signals would go bankrupt a few times and bailed out by banks that he had leveraged.

Then he would start selling a clothing line of Jason Fried coding shirts. He would then start a reality show where he fired developers based on not coding well enough.

Then Jason would get on tv and start asking the public where Obama's birth certificate is.

Please keep Donald Trump away from startupland. He's a troll that deserves none of our respect.

Great quote:

“The real trick is staying known, staying relevant and staying excited about what you do. Our little ‘game industry that could’ has become the juggernaut that won’t be stopped. Ambition, hard work, perseverance, luck and shameless self-promotion – it’s all part of the deal.”

How is this different then google docs, Evernote, or 100 different PM tools? Still not getting this at all... maybe product shots would convey this better?
