Kevin is an successful angel investor and an influencer in the techs space. Not to mention that every company that he has worked with have nothing but good things to say about him.
Google currently employees more than 20,000 people. I'm sure at this point they have plenty of engineers. A couple guys with some sense of design will not hurt the bottom line but have huge potential to add some much needed polish to Google's social initiatives.

If the damages were $2 and not $200,000 would you still think an 18 month sentence is justified ?
I would guess that most people would think not.
So the true cost of the damage is a significant factor in assessing the appropriate punishment

i highly doubt Google will comply. The only possible out come i see is Google setting up shop outside France's jurisdiction.

That's an insane offer for such a young company.
I guess the team turned it down in the hopes Path will be many times the offer. I just don't see how an iPhone app can worth more than $120 million. I think the most successful app would be angry birds, but i doubt even the most optimistic valuation would put them over one billion.

There would be an advantage to being the only company not to accept the funds. i imagine the press and standing out in the herd might be well worth passing on the 150k.
Plus i think others angles and VCs will through money at you knowing you turned down the easy money.

The real question should be why is Google not doing this. Bing seems to be learning from what results users choose and improving their results.
Seems like a no brainer, unless i missed something.
I also really like this for some reason. It's very ... gangster. Shows that bing is scrappy and willing to bend the rules.
That being said, i will still continue using Google.

If you need a real example of lean companies look no further than YC companies.
I personally like all the writers at TC having worked with most of them in the past. They never broke an embargo and we're quick to response to any requests i had. The same can't be said for #%@&*& (name redacted to protect the guilty).
You just have to be clever and give each blog a different angle to cover. You also have to approach different blogs every now and then rather hitting up the same source each time.

Just because you're insured up 100k doesn't mean the 100k will be worth that much when you get it. Printing money and giving it to people doesn't fix the problem. color me cynical
also as the dollar become inflated holding, i would rather hold shares than currency. i would also get my hands on some GLD
People assume that 1.2 trillion was lost(stock market). However that money still exists, just the ownership has changed. Today was probably the largest transfer of wealth ever.
In my opinion this is a good thing. You can't have unchecked growth forever. You need to have a downturn to jolt consumer confidence and investor confidence.
