You people are credulous and mad. Goodbye Western civilisation.

A great podcast for people interested in starting software businesses.
That's not as surprising as you may think. "Truth is not a complete defense against libel".
Imagine I contacted someones workplace and business partners and told them about a drug conviction that occurred 22 years ago. Or if I took a statement you make after a some drinks in the pub and stuck a print out on poles all around your business.
There are cases where suing someone for libel even if what they say is true doesn't seem demonstrably wrong.
Airport 2 km inland is flooded, amazing helicopter shots of the water sliding across the land.
I listen to a lot of business and startup talks and this is probably the best I have heard. Rapid pace and inspirational.
You firstly need to realize that mood is like the weather, it's never permanent.
You have some real practical problems to deal with, but no more than lots of people, no more than lots of people who you admire have dealt with.
You need to talk to the organisations you owe money to, you need to negotiate a payment plan you can actually afford.
You need to listen to this interview with Rand Fishkin, http://mixergy.com/seomoz-rand-fishkin-interview/ in which he talks about being in debt.
Look yourself in the mirror, are you really exhausted and out of ideas ? I don't think so, I think you're just getting started.
It would have been epic if he had walked off stage with that routine...
I thought this short video was pretty insightful. I have been focusing on pitching the benefits of my product and not reducing the risk of adoption.
By talking about all the different way my product can help perhaps I was making it look like it would be a dramatic change to the customers workflow.
I am going to focus on the single most significant benefit we offer and suggest a "one week challenge", where the customer uses our product for a week and then we discuss the benefits.
For some work that requires light attention, having a startup podcast going in the background can be very inspiring.
Of course we know the real reason for this post is to beat Jason in the battle of the blogs :)
The techzing podcast is great easy listening for startup hacker types.
For those who don't know the techzing format is two developers having a regular chat about the startup projects they are working on, their consulting work and the stories they found interesting on hacker news.
There are also guest interview shows, sometimes with tech / startup people and sometimes with more exotic guests (one interview was with a geologist about peak oil and helium 3 fusion. Another was about the evidence behind alien sightings).
If you like startup podcasts I recommend you check out a few episodes of techzing and see if it's too your liking.
I am in, I am making Quiz Blog Chief, a wordpress add-in.
It's called "Fast Marketing For Fast Growth". I couldn't find it on Amazon.
I find him inspirational in a completely different way to the normal hackernews / mixergy / startup world entrepreneurs.
He makes you feel that success is all about heart.
Great idea. A similar inspiration to Jason at www.HabitMix.com I think.
Easier said than done with a country that size with such a complex governance structure and history.
I think the will is only a small part of what's required, the competence to pull it off is the larger issue.
A couple of interesting things I've read about China.
Firstly many Chinese don't tie democracy and individual liberties together in the same way people in the west do.
Secondly I read that in China much is freeing up but the "3 Ts and an F" remain very sensitive. The "3 Ts and an F" are Tibet, Tiananmen, Taiwan and Falun Gong
I think there is a lot of evidence they are improving personal freedom and the rights of the individual, not dramatically so, not as fast as many would like.
Looking at property rights for example, the ability of people to appeal the decisions of local authorities, the ability of people to complain about local corruption and have action taken is reported to have improved greatly as compared to 10,20 or 30 years ago.
Did the people who have achieved the success you expect do more or less work than you've done ?
"I expected at least 20 sign ups by now", "I expected at least 100 visits a day by now", "I expected at least $1000 a month by now".
Try and find out what other people had to do to get to those milestones, if you have done a lot less then perhaps you should push on, if you've done a lot more, maybe your on the wrong track.
A rough heuristic but better than gut feel, perhaps.
I am amazed at how google has created a virtuous incentive cycle in which experts are competing with each other to give away the best information and gather the most interest.
Compare that to television, radio or print advertising, do you get the impression anyone is competing to provide the most useful information ?
Lying and misleading people is wrong, but that doesn't seem to be a huge part of most SEO activity.
The most common activity I see is people saying "hmm what can I put out there that other people will be interested in", that's an absolutely amazingly positive result.
My 2 cents.
Looks fantastic, immediately I want to use it on my sites.
I have looked for a live demo on your site but can't see one.
Don't just go for the hip startup crowd. Create a landing page specifically for Travel agents, with questions and examples relevant to that industry. Do they same for real estate agents.
Hi,
Previously I have seen some www.mixergy.com interviews that touch on selling to businesses online.
Also I've read about how small/medium sized businesses are a difficult proposition because it's too inefficient to reach them via mass marketing as you would consumers but price point usually doesn't justify a sales force and sales presentations.
All suggestions appreciated.
Cheers Sam
He's not being bland and obvious, it's just bland and obvious to us. Online business is still a smart part of business in general, to someone of Richard's age who gets as many pitches as he does "web based" is not bland and obvious. That's my take anyway.
WRT the recent claim of a P!=NP proof.
I am hanging out for Scott's reaction.
Thanks I will have a think about what you've said.
thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the feedback. I think giving more examples of using the data produced is a good idea.
Thanks for adding that.
This is an interesting read http://37signals.com/affiliate/commissions
Thanks I will do some searching for that. Cheers
