Thank you. This is an expansion of surveillance. Most concerning to me is how few people understand government's access to this data. People treat AI like a diary, and the government can request that data at anytime.

On the All in Pod, Chamath Palihapitiya has also been pushing to require ID checks to use AI models. Free thinking and free speech are under attack.
A new data retention policy
Finally, we’re making a change to the way we handle business customer data for Fable 5, Mythos 5, and future models with similar or higher capability levels. We will require 30-day retention for all traffic on Mythos-class models, on both first- and third-party surfaces. We won’t use this data to train new Claude models, or for any non-safety-related purpose, and we’ve instituted new privacy protections including logging all human access to the data and ensuring its deletion after 30 days in almost all cases (see this post for further details). The data will help us defend against complex and novel attacks (including new jailbreaks and attacks that operate across many requests) as well as help us identify and reduce false positives.

Of course, I’m absolutely for this. It is way overdue. But, what’s the group behind this? Who’s pushing it?
I haven’t read through the bill and text yet, but credibility is important in this fight. Plus, this can change at anytime, so knowing who’s behind it amplifies the trust.
We need to be having these conversations yesterday. Our fundamental freedoms are under attack, and a bill like this would go a long way to protecting future generations

Using agents trigger different dopamine patterns, I'd compare it to a slot machine: did it execute it according to plan or did it make a fatal flaw? Also, multiple agents can run at once, which is a workflow for many developers. The work essentially doesn't come to a pausing point.
Ironic the Apple App store allows a "phone antivirus" to exist.
The addiction aspect of this is real. I was skeptical at first, but this past week I built three apps and experienced issues with stepping away or getting enough sleep. Eventually my discipline kicked in to make this a more healthy habit, but I was surprised by how compelling it is to turn ideas into working prototypes instantly. Ironically, the rate limits on my Claude and Codex subscriptions helped me to pace myself.

What ZKPs don’t do is mitigate verifier abuse or limit their requests, such as over-asking for information they don’t need or limiting the number of times they request your age over time. They don’t prevent websites or applications from collecting other kinds of observable personally identifiable information like your IP address or other device information while interacting with them.

Me too. I've been using spec-kitty [0], a fork of Spec Kit. Quite amazing how a short interview on an idea can produce full documents of requirements, specs, tasks, etc. After a few AI projects, this is my first time using spec driven development, and it is definitely an improvement.
Looks cool! I've had a hard time finding personal finance apps that are e2ee, so this is great.
Only downside is manually importing documents, but there isn't any other way, really, without giving up your data to Plaid or another service.

Inspired by a TED talk I saw [0] where the researcher from Microsoft displayed a program with AI assisting with thinking while someone was reading and annotating a document. They claimed it was a way to sharpen critical thinking instead of killing it. They didn't release the product, but I figured it was cool and useful, so I've spent the weekend creating it. It's been a great way for me to practice using agents, and I've learned a lot from this process.
How many times do you unlock your phone a day? For some people it’s over 100+ times a day Face ID is convenient, useful and secure. The alternative? People will use short numeric passcodes that are easy to bypass with devices like Cellulite.
Instead, we should push for laws and protections around our private devices. The 4th Amendment actually protects our personal effects and imo this biometric loophole is illegal.
As the other commenter pointed out, in the meantime, practice how to quickly lock your phone - and better yet, when in dangerous situations, leave it behind or turn it off.

Citizens Council for Health Freedom has a whole page about Real ID. [0] Senator Rand Paul has a bill to repeal it. Crucially, you can still fly without a Real ID - there are 15 other forms of acceptable ID.
