yes, but in the long term.. Chile is often used as guinea pig to do this sort of things, so before go all the way and start a huge data center in Brazil, it pays off to try it in a smaller scale somewhere else in the region and learn from it, Chile is perfect for that, it has the political stability, infrastructure and just enough population to have a decent amount of trained profesionals available..
Another point is, the data center will serve all LatAm not just Chile, so what really matters is where in the region you can get the fastests and more reliable bandwidth links to the US at the lowest price..
this is exactly what I need to debug a problem of some users in some versions of windows with our html5 video player, very good idea that solves a painful problem, keep it up!
I always thought that a parallel-independent-underground network is inevitable and if it's achieved succesfully I think the ramifications could be huge, it could be the first step towards seriously thinking about the posibility of leaving Earth and start to colonize the space, if you can have a reliable network out of a DIY space program, I can't think why in 100 years they wouldn't start a colony outside to basically move further away from the rules of goverments on Earth.

I'm not an expert here, but it's pointless to make tracking sun panels that costs a lot more if the outcome wasn't that great, I bet tracking sunlight is still more efficient even after spending energy to move the panels, it makes no sense otherwise. The real benefit of this is that you get a cheap motionless panel that performs a lot better than the flat version, this is specially important in places like Africa where you need to be as efficient and cost effective as possible.
it makes a lot of sense, nature has been doing it for a lot of time :), I hope that other scientists elsewhere can also confirm that the improvements are so dramatic, I mean, having still/motionless cheap arrays that can perform 20%-50% better than the flat ones are great news!

I don't think most people refer as a "weekend project" to brag about performance and how much they did with little time, for me it's a general term that refers to something you do on your "free" time or time outside your normal work schedule.

I'm chilean, working from home for american clients, I have never been really interested in the local startup scene because, well, there was nothing of that a few years ago really, but things are changing and I'm glad we now have this initiatives and we're slowly starting to attract talent! we got the infrastructure but what we really need is to attract foreign talent / entrepreneurs, and to _keep_ good local talent. I wish you the best!
much to my surprise it worked, I mean, after we finished the first maze (it was short just a proof of concept), he wanted to do another one and he really got into trying to save the schoolbus, funny thing was that he rolled the dice over the monsters and then hit them with the dice during the battle, epic!
you know what? my wife is at the living room trying to study and we have a 4 year old son that I have to keep busy today. I am a big fan of RPG games and I really liked this idea, going to see if it works with him :) thank you!
yeah, same thing Skype does, I would not be surprised if FaceTime does exactly that.
I have a 4 year old and I'm 26 now, it does change your priorities for sure but more than that you start to realize "you just can't afford to fail", failing when you are on your own is less of an issue than when you have a kid, and that same pressure to not fail will have different consequences on different people, for the ones with the entreprenurial gene it will most likely be a motivator, for the ones without that entrepenurial gene/mindset/spirit will increase their fear of failure and make them pass opportunities or not give it a shot to their ideas.
All in all, I think, it's a great experience! very rewarding even the downsides (you know, lack of sleep, diapers, etc) are not as bad as they sound, you kinda get used to it and trust me, raising a happy kid is priceless, so changing diapers for a few years and missing some sleep hours is a very small price to pay imo.
