OpenAI raises $110B at $730B pre-money valuation from Amazon, Nvidia, & SoftBank

If you really wanted this device to flop, you should have ignored it. Instead, it has sold out and is being resold on secondary markets.

The worst part of this post is that by drawing attention to the device you're indirectly being an unpaid marketer for them.

The same people that ruined Meta are now the same people at OpenAI are going to place ads there.

This surely is saving the world and benefiting humanity. /s

But almost certainly someone somewhere is building an ad-blocker to rid of the ads. We'll see.

That doesn't excuse the point. Thanks to LLMs, We'll see more of this and more embargoed vulnerabilities now revealed like this on a regular basis.

Given that Linux allows the use of AI assistance [0] you'll be very disappointed to see that people will use LLMs to find even more CVEs and bugs much quicker. That also means they will be fixed much quicker which should be a good thing; as long as the core developer is in the loop checking.

Unless you are against or downplaying this, you may not know that you are actually coping.

The people who are most afraid of Chinese models are the VCs who poured into Anthropic and OpenAI at astronomically high valuations.

Correct. These chinese labs has proven that having just the model is not a moat, and the safety concerns were all just attempts at regulatory capture.

This is why labs like OpenAI and Anthropic are panicking and are racing to the exit before their valuations start being questioned.

Yes I won’t use LLM autocomplete or agents for any personal projects.

So you would use AI including LLM autocomplete at work, but at the same time, you don't want anything to do with it?

You just previously said that:

> "...If written by agents, I don’t want anything to do with it. I only want human written software, even LLM autocomplete seems a bridge too far."

That means you would still use AI at some capacity which breaks that guarantee.

This also means that you just contradicted yourself, when I explicitly said in any capacity that you would never use AI or agents at all.

First of all to reply to your deleted comment, yes this is completely relevant to the article.

As token costs drop significantly (thanks to local models and hosted Chinese models.) employers will consider using cheaper models like Kimi Work and others, even if they are already using expensive ones like Claude Cowork. They won't be able to operate without it.

Secondly, do I actually believe this? Of course, I already said that there will be more mass layoffs because of AI years ago. [0]

So this outcome was expected.

For the past 3 years, many software engineers were coping that AI (particularly LLMs) was only going after juniors. Given the documented history of mass layoffs related to AI from 2024 to today, it is clear that everyone including seniors and staff level folks are just as affected.

So let's just say, if your whole identity is for being a typical software engineer no matter the seniority and nothing else, perhaps it is time for you to reconsider options as of course 100% avoiding AI is futile at this point.

There will still be new jobs, but there will be no need for more excess people, even under Jevon's paradox. Software engineers were just the test bed for this and now there is an oversupply of SWEs without jobs in the market and will have to use AI tools like Kimi Work and Claude Cowork to be employable.

I'm not sure why some comments here are so pessimistic.

Time and time and time and time and time again, technologists are always naïve to never realize that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I am expecting the opposite effect to happen with the actual use of robotics. Mass displacement of every sector of labor.

This is not ruled out.

I'd rather wait for independent seasoned mathematicians to verify such claims first before someone at said AI lab posting a claim about solving a proof online.

Let this be a lesson to those who fell for such AI psychosis and to not believe everything you see on the internet as real.
