One reason I can see that kept apple from coming up with wider screen is backwards compatibility. Most iOS apps are using absolute coordinates, the taller screen is already gave a lot of old apps black gaps on the top and bottom. Wider screen will just make rewriting the apps even more work to support ios6

Canadian cellphone companies are pretty much a oligopoly with 3 big players, Rogers, Telus, and Bell. All 3 of them are super expensive and locks people in on super long 3 year contracts. These companies are so shady they create multiple "discount brands" to make consumer feels like they have more choices. Parallel computing is limited by Amdalah's Law. Having more core does not mean you can have have more speed because it's not easy to use all those cores. Most imperial languages are not designed with running codes on multiple core and few programers are taught how to design their algorithm for using a handful of cores.

I can see this platform being a good tool for students and researchers to experiment with algorithm speedups by making their sequential code, parallel.

In my parallel programming class, our teacher had to rig together a computer lab to connect the 12 quad core computers to simulate a 64 core cluster. Then again, 64 core cluster of Parallella would cost like $7000. You can get the same 64 core setup by buying 8 x 8 core consumer desktop computer for under $3000, which will still be more cost effective and probably have ten times more computing power because of the x86 architecture.

It seems to me that more and more companies will just run their own "kickstarted" campaign without Kickstarter like the Lockitron guys. The companies will also no longer be at Kickstarter's mercy to shut down their campaign when they feel like, and don't have to pay the commission. Now it's so easy to setup credit card payment with Square and put up your own"Kickstarter" page.

The problem with this is that most 17-18 year old don't have a sense of what ROI of their education will get them. Many of high-school graduates will be thinking "oh I like to read shakespeare so I'm going to major in English", and they probably have no idea how long the $100k will take to get paid off after their job.

I think if anything that will solve this problem once and for all is to make liberal arts minor degrees and only offer STEM as majors.

iOS apps are sandboxed. Maps app used to be fairly integrated with the native OS when it comes to opening an address in a webpage or email. If Google is to submit a independent app, some of those features will probably be loss unless Apple makes an exception for Google.

We are totally embarrassed by the quality of our website right now, but they say if the MVP is not embarrassing, then it's launched too late so we forced ourself to "launch" early to get feedbacks. Sorry about the grammar mistakes, we drafted the copy in like 10 minutes and we were suppose to proof read it before we "launch", but it was forgotten.
