Does CompilerWorks compile between different versions of a SQL database? For example, making it much simpler to upgrade from MySQL 5.6 to MySQL 5.7.

Triplebyte tests candidates with the types of questions they'd get at Software Developer interviews.

Hired does not.

Thus, candidates on Hired that are attractive to recruiters are due to their resume, so they already get solicitations on LinkedIn, and easy access to interviews.

On the other hand, someone with a less "glamorous" resume could pass the Triplebyte screening process, and that gives signal to recruiters that the candidate is more likely to pass their company's interview process.

How much usage would there be if a simple Open Source ATS were built from scratch? I think it would be a fun project.

In addition, the license that it uses has restrictions and is not OSI approved, so some people wouldn't call it Open Source.

I personally find OpenCATS's interface confusing. Also, it seems to rely on having the applicant enter structured data, rather than embedding the resume on the candidate's page, which is a worse experience for both the candidate and resume evaluation.

As far as the license, this clause is limiting for some businesses: "You may not use the Licensed Software to operate in or as a time-sharing, outsourcing, service bureau, application service provider or managed service provider environment."

My interpretation of the Google comment is that if you block all JavaScript from Google, Repl.it does not work. Haven’t tried it myself though.

Could you reach out to the Georgia Tech OMSCS program? They have 9,000 concurrent students, and a $7,000 Master's in CS Degree.

Wester Governors University is like that to some extent. A class is completed when you pass a test. So some people that already have the knowledge get the degree pretty quickly.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll think about adding more of a high level overview in the first step, with rough pseudocode of the end result.

That said, I don't think I want to have a step where "they write pseudocode", because a lot of people would just skip that step without thinking about it.

I haven't personally used zyBooks, but they seem to have a similar vision. Although from what I can see on the Internet, reviews of their materials seem to be mixed.

I'll think about what can be done about the last-step hint for Spiral Matrix. I guess a reason why this tutorial format is not more widespread is that it's easy for the hints to be "off".

I created SkillUpper because I was thinking about how Computer Science learning could be more interactive.

Codecademy pioneered a more interactive REPL style of learning for basic programming.

I felt that this interactive step-by-step approach could be used to learn other parts of Computer Science more efficiently.

Because of algorithms being highly represented in software engineering interviews, it seemed like a good place to start. But this step-by-step format could also be used to teach other parts of Computer Science.
