I find Patents evil the same way hardcore racism is. Exploitation and profiteering are their motivations under the guise of fear and protection.

From all of my work experience, it is finding product-market-fit that is harder than filing a bunch of patents or better yet buying them up in bulk. Yet startups can be hugely liable to patent trolls.

Did not realize how much the Universities themselves are perpetuating this problem.

Define efficiency and then I may agree. I not only work more efficiently from home, but work least inefficiently in an office setting. I don't have kids and my daily meditation helps me from being distracted. I personally think most information workers can work more efficiently from home.

Most of us are too afraid to stop atrocities (Ex: Recently Muslims getting killed in Delhi while Modi was adulating Trump). But a few who do could may help save humanity.

Amjad the CEO of Replit could be fairly insecure person afraid of losing his company's dominance/marketshare to some simple intern/developer. I am sure he did NOT expect this level of heat.

This article and the associated 'press' could serve as a text-book case for insecure start-up CXOs.

In my 'biased' view, AI has already revolutionized more fields than most people will 'ever' recognize. However unfounded fears and insecurities around jobs are keeping its real potential at bay.

My bet is the actual impact will first be realized in poorest countries (India included) and then will spread to more advanced countries (US/G7).

The number one life skill, based on my own experience is, Self Inquiry (Who Am I?) based Meditation. Know that you are not your body or your mind, but the Awareness or knowing that observes all your thoughts, sensations, feelings and perceptions. Search Youtube for Rupert Spira and watch some of his meditations.

There is an apathy around bombing civilians in Islamic countries, especially if done by another Islamic country. It is considered just a matter of business/strategy to supply weapons to Saudi Arabia, even when the extent of Human rights violations there are fully known. This problem can be resolved only when there is a broad recognition that all Humans are equal, regardless of religion, caste etc.

"Democratic systems can work by increasing the transparency of the government and by increasing the education of the voting population." Most of the big problems facing the humanity can be addressed using transparency of government combined with better education for all. To that list I would add, decreasing the role corporate money plays into influencing government and universities. Beautiful explanations of key mathematical concepts such as linearity and associated generalizations. Good to get a sense of how so many real life complex phenomenon can be modeled by combining simple mathematical constructs.

As a developer I have not paid much attention to the power of command line tools, to get things done. This book is a great resource that uses docker to create simple command line utilities to implement useful Data Science functionality.

The article seems a little shallow. Many questions are left unanswered. Just projecting where the future jobs will be OR customizing learning based on preferable modes of learning, probably will NOT eliminate poverty. Universal basic income along with more humane policies could help.

Spain is forcing its might on a peaceful majority on Catalonians through violence & other 'onesided-lawful' means. When a significant majority (apparently 90% who polled) wants to separate, calling it a joke, is not really apt.

Pomodoro technique has been working for me very well. I started with 25 minute Pomodoros, gradually increased the duration to now 50 minutes per Pomodoro. I am able to do deep work (per my needs) consistently for about 4 Pomodoros per day.

A lot of innovation happened in JavaScript space over the past few years and yet the learning curve is high. I prefer to use Python for Data Analysis, Data Transformations & Machine Learning. For web applications, Node/Express + React/Vue seems to work better.

Fantastic article. In essence when we dwell on ourselves or our insecurities, we tend to get stressed out. When we act of out service mindset (give first) doing good for all(much harder in practice), where our own good is included, we will be more fulfilled in the long-term.
