So thinking Iran will simply nuke Israel because it has that capability is silly - it would mean mutual destruction.

100%. The Iranian regime is not stupid. The "existential threat" bs being peddled by a certain government is simply to give cover to illegal attacks on a sovereign nation. This is "WMDs in Iraq" all over again.

Glad you agree!

I'm just pointing out that the most plausible reason your fellow countrymen choose to call themselves "expats" wherever they go, is because the rhetoric in your country has dehumanized or made the word immigrants/illegal "dirty".

Not hard to imagine such rhetoric can lead to nastiness all around, ending even in violence against said group. If you don't mind that and see no problem with that, then of course there's absolutely no common ground for us to have any discussion on :)

If we should call things what they are, we should definitely start by calling Americans who emigrate to other countries what they are: immigrants in the other country. Of course most choose to cutely refer to themselves as "expats".

no paid sponsorships, no ads, no algorythm manipulations, no collection of behavioral information, no clickbaits, no shitty content promoted

There are plenty of channels that do none of these. As for "algorythm manipulations", YT recommends more of what you like or subscribed to. Not sure what you expect a content aggregator and provider to do. Just have a search bar? I've come across so many interesting channels thanks to the "algorythm manipulations".

But it simply would not exist to the same scale or utility if that was the only model that was funding it.

Citation needed. Are you saying that if there were a billion YT premium subscribers, YT would still need ads for its scale? I doubt it.

You can literally pay YouTube to avoid ads, watching the mental gymnastics folks on here do to complain about YouTube Premium is my favorite pastime.

It was the exact opposite for me interestingly. I couldn’t stand chatGPT search beyond a few days, I guess because my search patterns don’t need a bunch of useless words thrown in (locations, very specific keywords that lead to websites etc). The speed is also a big factor. Google search feels almost instantaneous and watching ChatGPT search emit a bunch of tokens before getting to what I need drove me to frustration.

I beg to disagree. I don’t watch movies to “get information”. I watch movies (and long form YouTube videos) to be entertained. Why travel places? You can look up photos and videos online and get the same “information”.
