On exam difficulty, try CCIE certification. There are two parts, the written ($350 per an attempt) and then the lab part which cost $1500 per an attempt. The lab part has a 26% pass rate over the history of the exam. In comparison, the CA Bar exam has a 35% and 55% pass rate, which is the lowest in the US.

You also can't just take it anywhere, you have to travel to a designated lab testing center, and depending on where you are that means cost of travel and lodging.

Love him or hate him, I think it's great when someone makes a mistake, owns up to it publicly. Even allow others to contact them directly and list all levels of accountability even to the top.

I have heard of Scoble but never follow him.I have made the same mistake he has made, where a friend I highly trust, who I think is rarely wrong forwards me info which I use for an argument and it turns out to be completely false. Yes it was laziness, no doubt about it and I learn that the hard way, and so has Scoble.

Not a surprise at all. I have read many stories like this and the problem is that many of them come from poverty. They get money and they feel very guilty, so they give money to any friends or family that asks. This is why many have such huge entourages.

He also paid for 20 cell phone bills, on top of buying house for his parents, brothers and sisters. Paying all the bills eating out with his close friends, paying for rides and flights.

Google can fail at Google+ because this is not their main product. Look at Buzz and Wave, they both failed spectacularly, and Google moved on to the next thing.

Like wise you can write a whole article about how Google standing by and doing nothing while Facebook dominates the social network scene is a mistake.

I know people who have been through hardship and they actually tell people to hang around, to just talk, say anything. They prefer people say something to not saying anything at all.

Yea. You can't completely avoid it but I try to minimize it as much as I can.

I have separate emails for a ton of things. I create fake personas for anything I think that does not need to know my true identity.

I do not fill out profiles of anything. When I sign up it's just my name and everything else is as minimal as possible.

Was not able to find any sources worth reading but I am interested to know the comparison between American Universities, and free universities in Europe. It would be interesting to see how each system works for students during, and after college.

I still dont get how you concluded that Newegg stores password in plain text.

All you did was talk to a Newegg rep, you said he mis understood you and email you your Newegg password. What evidence do you have and in what logical reasoning does that lead to Newegg storing passwords in plain text?

He could have used your info and looked it up in the Newegg system, probably clicked a check box that says "email password" the system could have decrypted it and sent you the password.

I've seen many sites that actually send you your username and current passwords if you forgot. It doesn't mean that when it's stored on their system it was not encrypted.

Edit: to clarify, my whole point is in reference to how the password is stored in plain text.

A lot of schools including my alma mater has this free for students/staff. They also allow alumni if you bought the lifetime alumni pack when you graduated which was $300 and included a bunch of other university services.

I have use the safari books extensively, but their book viewer sucks. I wished it was a much better UI.

A better intelligent article would have address the total cost of ownership and efficiency of the product over its lifetime.

In that sense, buying better quality products which might be more expensive at first is a better deal. In this way I am willing to concede that you shouldn't sell yourself short. But this can honestly be all summoned up by saying, do your research before you buy.

It's just odd watching large sites repeat the same mistakes. First digg, and now the entire Gawker sites. It's as if they paid no attention to how badly a major change can have on their viewer base from past experiences.

Seriously, if you are going to make major changes to your website, do what many other sites have done. First you put up a discussion with features and looks that you want, then wait and see the reaction. If it's positive move to the next phase, create a beta page and randomly divert a viewer to the beta site. Then have an option to input opinion so you can see reactions.

Shocking your viewers with change is a horrible way to go about updating your website.

I wouldn't go into a panic, as if EVERYONE is using tumblr and doing this. It's just like those spam emails, where its a forward of a forward.

Relax, like all trends it'll run it's course and the next hip thing will happen. I don't see any problems with this because you are making a HUGE assumption. That if you use tumblr you are lazy and shallow because you didn't take the time to write out your thoughts? How do you know they aren't using other medians? It's just a big conclusion to make....unless you have the data to back it up.

The FBI mostly has been watching, but not directly involved because so far, for what they've done it's not worth the resources and money to go after. The FBI could go after anonymous but the cost and time would be so high eventually you're gonna tell yourself, we just wasted a lot of tax payer money chasing a bunch of kid pranks. That is unless Anon does something stupid to invoke massive public anger.

I am for trying to poke at someone, but to me the line is drawn at family and kids. Anonymous themselves might not do it, but lets say they make information about the kids public and some weird psycho uses that in a bad way. Just takes one incident involving a child and the public out lash could be severe.

I think it would be more accurate to say "Western life style" is making the world sick. Meaning work all the time, mostly sitting down, and have no time to exercise or prepare a healthy meal. This leads to eating fast food and high preservatives foods that last a long time but aren't really healthy.

You could eat healthy but still not be healthy without a proper life style change. Meaning exercise, lowering stress and other harmful habits.

Looks good, but I'll wait for more refinement of the courses and website.

One thing others have mention and I hope gets attention, is more details are need for each class. Right now it's like looking at a book with just the title and back cover. Hard to see if it's for you.

I agree with TorrentFreak and say that Moses Avalon went a bit too far. I kinda see where Avalon is coming from, meaning things are going to shits, but the entire diatribe is such a rambling of non sense it's hard to take Avalon seriously.

This is kinda funny, but I actually love this idea and have asked out loud why someone hasnt done this. BUT only if it's what I think it should be.

The one area that I have most trouble with isn't types of clothes it's the color coordination. I've had hundreds of comments like "oh your shirt doesn't match." To me it looks perfectly find. Or one that's strange to me is "that color is not you." My answer is always, "I have a color?" but no one clarifies.

Or I'll buy a dress pants in one color, and have no idea what color I should buy for dress shirt and other stuff like coats or sweaters to match.

I imagine something like saying hey I have so and so pants what color or shirt best matches it?

Something that works with your exist wardrobe, or teaches you how to color coordinate would be great.

It's about managing expectations. Go about emails with the mind set of training people around you to work with your expectations.

Important emails get answered quickly, while every non-issue is trashed. Over time this has worked out great for me. I don't get overwhelmed with emails, slowly it has gone down as those around me understand my priority.

How many times have I worked on a project and people constantly come in with personal excuses. "I am sorry my grandmother died" (yea you said that last month). "I am sorry my wife had woman problems and I had to go to the doctor with her" (nooo idea why you need to tell me that). "I am sorry my kid was sick all night and I couldnt sleep or get any work done." "I am sorry I have health issues and I couldn't work on it" (yea you said that 6 months ago when the project started).

In the words of my boss "I dont give a fuck what happens outside of work, just get it done. You dont need to tell me why you couldnt do it, the fact is you didn't. Just do your work, if you are unable to, let me know and I will get someone else to do it. DO YOUR JOB." Everyone hated him.

He was one of the best boss I've ever had. It's great to be on a project that finishes on time, and meets stakeholder's expectations. It's awesome being given gifts and thrown parties by clients because they had no hope it would get done, but you got it done.

Everyone knows, within a team, there are the few that make your project a hell. Visionaries know those people and make sure they understand their place.

Interesting piece, but overall, I want to see hard data about family make up. Ideally you would have surveys and learn more about the couple's state of minds before, during (pregnancy stage) and after having a kid.

Just from my observation, I don't have facts, just opinion, but couples who wanted to have kids will be the first to tell you they love it. Couples that had kids by accident are either not happy, happy, or indifferent. The last category are couples where one of the two wanted kids and the other didn't so overall, there was dissatisfaction.

To me it seems to be all about expectation and reality.

I am pretty sure Porn as an advantage in one aspect. People went out of their way to seek it.

In a aroused state, it wouldn't matter what you're watching, it could be someone just running a hand over their other hand and you'll get viewers, it's just enough to get off on.

Having no idea about what they just learn in CS. I've ran into CS majors who barely graduated and pretty much know nothing.

Then there are those who did really well, but all they can do is program in the language they were taught. They struggle learning a different language, or picking up a broader range of programing knowledge and theories.

I see this in a lot of majors, but most people chose the major because they think it will lead to a job. In other words they didn't learn it because they like it, they treat it as if it's training for a future job.

Any good alternatives? I am nterested in cloud storage for backup.
