In the 80’s I worked for a radio station in Asheville NC. That allowed us to get press passes to launches at the cape. I was in the press area for 2 shuttle launches including the very first night launch of the Space Shuttle. They launched right after an incredible thunderstorm had rolled through. I’m old now but still remember it like it was yesterday. Incredible to see in person.

I think the standard BBS modem for most BBS’s was the US Robotics brand if I’m not mistaken.

My first modem was a Supra 2400 baud, then thinking about all the speed I would have with my new 56.6. My first hard drive was a 20 meg, new it was $320. 20 megs $320 kids, imagine that.

That was for my wonderful brand new Amiga 500. Those were the days.

I’ll give a very simple job security lesson.

A small resort I worked for had a guy that had been there from the very beginning. He knew where every single water line was on the entire resort. A map was never made of those water lines.

When a new general manager was hired years later, he wanted to fire the guy who always showed up late for work, and was considered lazy. The owner of the of the resort said, “you can’t fire him, he’s the only one that knows where all the water lines are”.

Job security boys,job security.

I met my wife in the lobby of a ski resort I worked at. I was 35 she was 28. We both had never been married. We got married a year later and are still married 35 years later.

How ridiculous that this even happened. It happened in Atlanta 3 years ago. Don’t we learn from huge mistakes like this anymore? The circumstances are exactly the same. Look it up. It’s really stupid that this was allowed to happen again.
