I mean, there are some theories that the mental illness epidemic is partially caused by internet use. I did strict 2 months Internet fast and I can attest it has a healing effect. Does it have entertainment-to-death effect? I guess there is a bigger than expected number of suicides that wouldn't happen have the people not been addicted to Internet. But I agree with every passing year we are moving further and further into entertainment-to-death with our civilisations.
Another example: Industry sponsored conferences. Doctors are invited to a 3 day 4 star hotel stay to attend a conference. Technically, talks that are paid shilling are specially marked as sponsored talks.
But are the other doctors, who are getting paid to speak there 100% independent?
Will you be a 100% independent doctor after getting free presents?
Maybe you will. But industry probably found its profitable if they spent millions on these kinds of conferences.
Also lie repeated multiple times makes you believe in, there are psychological studies. So when you spend hour listening how drug X is gold, you might start believing its gold
I am not in SF but follow a lot of people there. My intuition is a lot of them promote long hours. I also worked in a few startups in Poland and all of them promoted long hours. I think the idea of working hard is real in startup scene, even though posters here might disagree. Take notice of most of us here are engineers, not business people
sure, but hes asking for remote work as well, for those staying in Moscow.
I think its very funny, him speaking about 2hours a day, like his in grave danger. He didnt mention anything about being presecuted.
I happen to know people stuck in Ukraine fearing for their life so please excuse me that I find it hard to emphatize with him. I would feel bad if he dint overstate how bad his situation is.
Guys please stop falling for this psyops comment. I work in PsyOps and he was ordered to speak like there is no psyops against American citizens. Dont believe him believe me
hard to answer without context. Where is the company located? What industry is it in? How big is the company? How motivated are other people in the company to help? What is your position and are you a decision maker?
So my answer without any context, donate money to help
they wanted to take Kiev in 72 hours. I don't think I would call it "going great for Russians" Some troops / people in the troops have good equipment, but seems that a lot of communication is going through short-range communication
CNN finds that twice as many Russians believe it would be right for Moscow to use military force to prevent Kyiv from joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as say it would be wrong.
One out of every two Russians (50%) says it would be right, while only a quarter (25%) say it would be wrong. The other quarter (25%) are unsure, according to the survey.
But the poll also found that more Russians think it would be wrong than right to use military force “to reunite Russia and Ukraine” – two countries with a long and complicated history of being intertwined.
It’s a close call, but 43% of Russians said use of military force against Ukraine to join it to Russia would be wrong, while 36% said it would be right. (The rest of the respondents said they didn’t know if it would be right or wrong.)
