It’s an observation I made too. There definitely seem to be fewer PM roles and it makes sense - often there is 1:5 all the way up to 1:10 PM to Engineers ratio. My personal motivation isn’t necessarily a reaction to the market, but more so my general experience and satisfaction as an IC versus a PM. I just feel like I’m more of a coach as a PM than a player in the field. And as I look at my life and reflect on how I ended up here, I can’t ignore that it was very much about playing the game that pulled me in.

I'm not in a hurry to move, I would like to plan and prepare for the transition once I've sat with this feeling and understand that it's real and it doesn't just pass over me.

I had no idea that some people benefit from sleep deprivation, but it makes a lot of sense to me experientially. I feel like I'm a bit more focused when I get 4-6 hours of sleep even though my body typically wants 7-8.

I stopped reading after the part where they describe the paywall gated version of the journalism website as “Now it’s spam from a site suffering financial need.”

That website spends money creating content for commercial viability, it doesn’t have to bow to you and make sure you can consume it for free, and the Wayback Machine isn’t a tool for you to bypass premium content.

Tbilisi is a great little cozy place to stay put for a while. They did well to contain covid cases.

I just did the same over the weekend. Really loving BitWarden, it works and it’s fast. It did take me a bit of time to export out, scrub & format CSV, then import to BitWarden.

Are you sure about this? They almost always seem slightly annoyed when I haven't started bagging my own goods in the middle of them scanning items.

How much better is it than Safari? I find the differences in browser performance so subtle nowadays that I lean towards whichever gives me the most seamless experience—-which, as a Mac/iPhone user, is safari.

Same thing has happened to Venice, Santa Monica, SF, Bay Area, etc.. the world is constantly changing. The only constant is change.

That, plus a bit of over-reliance on the US Census Bureau's way of measuring new startup activity. It's now easier than ever for individuals (read: not registered businesses that reporting agencies typically count in their studies) to start up and run experimental ventures, especially online. I hate to be "that guy" but, I don't think this is really what people want their kids reading:

I ordered Project Fi service recently, got my SIM card over 2 weeks ago and to this still still am unable to activate it and use the service. Their support has gone back and forth with me, and even escalated it to engineerse but nothing has been done to resolve the issue. Moreover they typically respond days later and ask me vague questions like whether or not I enabled Project Fi within Google Apps policy settings (I did that long before calling support). The whole thing has been a clusterfuck to be honest and I'm waiting one final response before I just cancel the whole effort outright and keep on keepin' on with AT&T. The sad part is that I purchased a 5X just for this.

What does this mean if you've bought or sold cryptocurrency within 2017?

Even if you do need to raise money, why is it a necessity to run your company out of the same city that your investors are in?

I've never had to personally raise money for a startup, but I see a lot of the face-to-face meetings starting off as warm email/phone intros. Even if you have to constantly travel to NY/CA/* to meet prospective investors isn't it still a better value to run a business somewhere with a low cost of living?

I think from a consumer marketing perspective they want really want a box with an Apple logo sitting in every living room in the country. I think that, and maybe because of the SSD and other hardware.

Does it really make more sense to create _another_ OS, rather than extending OS X or iOS? It seems like they're doing that anyway seeing as games etc will work "across all devices"...

Agreed. College has definitely changed my view of the world and expanded my mind. And I'm glad I went to an affordable state school.

I do, however, believe that past generations had more advantages with their degrees than my generation does.

I think the fact that we're seeing a lot of articles, stories, and publications revolving around the thoughts of college becoming useless and the importance of starting businesses says something about the way our culture is changing, and perhaps waking up.
