We're looking at cause here not 'cure' or treatment.

Regardless schizophrenic individuals probably would do better with being treated with kindness, respect, compassion, and love than with derision and rejection. At least observational that has been my experience.

So riddle me this.

Hypothetical situation.

Take two dogs from the same litter.

Raise one with love and kindness. Play with it. Socialize with it.

Then take the other one and neglect and abuse the hell out of it.

Which dog do you think will show signs of depression?

Still think it's clearly just a hardware issue?

Maybe it isn't entirely a hardware issue. Maybe it is a software issue.

Where do persons get their software from? The environment. Observing how their parents/family/etc interact.

I think it's fair to say that communication matters and that communication & experiences will have an affect on peoples perceptions.

I think you could put this much effort into finding evidence for virtually any other religion and come to the same conclusion.

I think it's the ultimate arrogance to think one's 'faith' happens to be the 'true' one.

I hope it does not. We do not need more space debris in orbit or more risk to the station and crew.

Also if it lands okay then they are more likely to deduce and correct what the issues are for a possible future mission (though at this point I do not know the likelyhood that Starliner will get another chance)

I understand your point from a purely aesthetic standpoint.

However the second that a commonly needed setting is required you're going a layer "deeper" (it's not because before it was at the first level) and that aesthetic is broken. I doubt the iPad first crowd is going to really intuit that.

Genuine question. What's the practical difference between duel-booting and running Win-11 in VM?

I understand there's some performance differences, obviously. And VM requires perhaps a bit more setup and understanding.

However, is it reasonable to VM Win-11 to mediate SB concerns AND be able to have access to basic windows software and services since they're used a lot by industry and universities?

i.e. that is I just need access to Onedrive and MS office for the most part.

Well open source obviously is very successful if nothing else for the fact so much infrastructure runs on it.

IMO there's a good market for certifying/ validating code used by government agencies/healthcare.

It is not about developing the best software, that's what the open source community is doing.

It is about getting paid to make sure a version meets requirements for a government or healthcare or similar organization where "use at your own risk" is not good enough.

When is the last time that China or Russia tried testing an entirely new launch vehicle? It is my understanding, aside from upgrades, they have not really built anything new.

Edit: also looking at your list of accidents, China has one with 6-100 deaths.

And USSR has 120 deaths in 1960.

I think you need to look at deaths beyond just Astronauts here.

This guy is saying we need autonomous war technology. He makes money in that field. He is a sales man.

Regardless, I do not have an issue with the U.S. preparing AND being able to achieve battlefield success with less lives.

Yes, the best camera is always the one in your hand.

Premise of this article is that you don't really own a 'disposable' pen. Well semantics aside, sure I agree.

That said, I like tools that I know are reliable, enjoyable to use, and preferably last for many years if possible.

I could type on a cheap ass keyboard but I like having a nice comfortable solid keyboard.

I could write all my notes with cheap pens but they may have performance issues. Therefore I like writing with MY personal pen. It's reliable. Applies consistent ink. Doesn't really smudge. Replaceable cartridges that seem to last longer than a cheap pen would. And it just looks and feels cool.

What is consider efficient if it yields less best results?

I understand time constraints and end goals may prohibit the 'best' approach.

What I do not understand is how can you say something is more 'efficient' if the yield in understanding is less than what you would get with another method.

Hopefully this will clarify my thought process here:

If 'Best' is to teach others and requires 10,000 hours to yield 90-99% understanding.

In contrast, 'Efficient' method requires 2,500 hours to yield 30-40% understanding. However, there is diminishing returns meaning that doubling your hours to 5,000 does not return you with 60-80% understanding, rather maybe closer to 50-60% understanding. With 7,500 hours closer to 65-70% and 10,000 hours may around 75-89% understanding.

Here you've spent the same amount of time but did not achieve the same level of understanding. I think you may have a dynamic 'Best' vs 'Efficient' curve and to switch between those options to optimize maximizing your level of understanding in the least amount of time.

I think this is implying the fines go to the site hosting the reviews. It puts the enforcement onto Amazon for example.

It requires a significant more water to put them out. Hence it's more efficient to just submerge them in water than it is just dumping water on top of them.

EV battery fires are currently significantly harder to deal with than ICE. The concerns are warranted and require fire departments to develop new tactics to deal with them.

Effectively, the batteries hit a point where they thermally runaway, catch fire, and won't go out until their temperature is reduced to below the thermal runaway threshold.

This currently requires a massive amount of water, like on the scale of dumping the burning vehicle into a lake or pool.

However, solid-state batteries ought to eliminate a lot of this concern.
