I've been playing different styles and genres of video games ever since Wolfenstein 3D and I consider myself pretty adept at playing them.
However, Rocket League is one game that I just can't master. I've tried, really really tried, but I just can't play it with any amount of skill.
It's a shame, as it looks really fun and I hear my son and his mates having a ball when they play.
I thought I'd share a side project I've been work on recently.
I've always struggled with procrastination. The final straw came last year when I forgot to book an MOT for my campervan, resulting in a cancelled weekend away, grief from my wife and kids and a realisation that I needed to address my procrastination problem.
So, I did what all good software engineers do: I spent a weekend hacking together a small reminder service.
The service emails me 12 weeks before, 8 weeks before, 5 weeks before, 3 weeks before, 2 weeks before, and 1 week before an important deadline. I can also choose daily reminders on the same 12, 8, 5, 3, 2, 1 schedule.
I have found that this increasingly frequent nagging helps me focus on important tasks and I haven't missed any renewals or deadlines since.
Following feedback from people I have shared the idea with, I put some more effort into the service and built remindify.co

Brave is great. I disabled all the web3 stuff and tidied up the homepage so it doesn't show me all the news etc.
The only issue I have is that the sync between my iphone, macbook, windows can sometimes get out of sync.
I use Authy. I've read a few comments about how migrating away is difficult. What do you use instead?
I also use bitwarden, but not sure how I feel about passwords and totp being in the same app.
Interesting take on split screen! In the demo, when the screen splits at about 4 seconds, I felt a bit nauseous, almost like a very light seasickness.

Explaining 2fa via SMS to that age group is hard enough. Adding authenticators or QR codes into the mix would blow their frail minds.
Related to OwnTracks I suppose... how does Google Maps on iOS know where I parked my car, if I've set it only use my location 'whilst I'm using the app' and I haven't used the app to navigate to my parked location?

I recently installed Home Assistant and bought some TP-Link HS100 plugs so I can turn the heater / workbench lights in my workshop on and off, so it's nice and warm before I start work.
Two weeks after I'd got it all running on an old Raspberry Pi, TP-Link released a firmware update that nuked the HS100 plug's ability to be controlled via Home Assistant :/
There are quite a few irritated TP-Link customers, but to their credit, TP-Link do seem to be reverting the firmware for Home Assistant users.

Some people like mottos that are steeped in historical depth or psychological meaning. I'm much more simple... mine is from the 2015 film, Cinderella: "Have courage and be kind".
Means all sorts of things... have the courage to; stand by your decisions, own up when you made the wrong decision, follow a path, take a different path, be yourself, be something else, put others first, etc. etc.
And there's nothing wrong with being kind.

One thing that irks me about sites for remote work is that they don't distinguish between countries.
A lot of employers will be remote, but only within their own country. I want to filter out remote jobs that won't accept candidates from outside of the UK, for example.

Yeah, that's not a great way to win back the trust of your customers.

Trunk looks useful... my side business is handmade leather goods (https://coastleather.com) and cross posting between my own website, ebay, etsy and amazon is a pain, so I just don't bother. This has meant that channels other than my website became stale and I shut down the stores.

Between my day job in Fin Tech, my sideline business in my handmade leather goods and with two children at primary school, I basically have ten minutes before I fall asleep in bed at the end of the day to squeeze in a few pages.
