I tried this out about 2 months ago when setting up a new server. I wanted something simpler and less resource heavy as webmin but it was just too simple. Adding questionable, half baked add-ons to get various functions to work just didn't give me the flexibility of webmin.

Interesting. I’ve been through 4 large transfers to Dropbox in the last 3 years and never once has it honored that header.

This has been my problem. Not necessarily that the rate limits are low, many can be gotten around by using multiple users to do the work since the limits are per user, but how rclone handles those rate limits when they hit them. The exponential back off will end up making hours and days long delays that will screw a migration.

How do you deal with how poorly rclone handles rate limits? It doesn't honor dropbox's retry-after header and just adds an exponential back off that, in my migrations, has resulted in a pause of days.

I've adjusted threads and the various other controls rclone offers but I still feel like I'm not see it's true potential because the second it hits a rate limit I can all but guarantee that job will have to be restarted with new settings.

I mean, you didn’t give it enough time. All of these cloud storage platforms are databases at their core. When you delete the file you’re updating the database entry, the data (and the record of it) is still there until their purge process runs, which could be days or weeks.

If it’s still there at a month I’d be surprised and be checking terms of service to see what they commit to.

I would say, instead of "ideally an Asian woman", a millennial woman. Was recently in a tourist spot for a work outing, we asked a random person to take our photo in front of the big monument and the photos were awful, including a finger of the photographer in each photo. This woman was in easily 50+. Gave the phone to a passing millennial aged woman and got 10 well compositioned photos in both landscape and portrait mode.

Man you guys are pessimistic and stuck in your bubbles. Asking if box is relevant when they’ve had growth the last two quarters while Dropbox is on the verge of seeing a drop in numbers. Yes ms and Google are seeing more but the product box is putting out is light years ahead of Dropbox, egnyte, and, honesty, most of FAANG, in terms of supporting the average office worker. They aren’t building sexy AI coders but they are making it so Sue Ellen, the EA to the VP of fuckall, can automate things and make life easier for everyone.

I worked at box, albeit for only a year, and saw Aaron’s passion up close. He could step into an executive briefing center meeting and pull out projects the customer was working on a year prior that didn’t directly involve box and ask honest, empathetic questions about it.

He’s a nerd and loves talking about this stuff. Those saying he’s trying to remain relevant or find a new hole for box miss the fact he’s on cnbc and other business channels a few times a year just talking tech. Unless Houston who only shows up when Dropbox has a sad launch to tout.

Aaron is passionate about Box and has been fighting an uphill battle since day one but I’ve held on to my thousands of shares since I left and the value has doubled. I fully expect AI to accelerate their future and lead to a bigger balance sheet.
