I recognize this as well. After a few side projects running out of interests from my side, while still liked but my early users, I also started to question why.
I found the biggest motivator is user feedback. Especially positive ones.. It makes me stay up late to get another thing implemented or fixed etc.
If I would run out of encouragement from users or people around me for a while, I think that is when I lose interest.
Hey, i tried the music aggregator - nice I want something like that. Feedback: It would be great if the the the next song would start playing automatically after the current song. Much like www.hypem.com. also, maybe there is a way to make the song info not pop up in its own box, but somthing more inline, in the page?

My new mantra: From now on I will have FEWER, SMALLER, and BETTER things.
This usually applies to gadgets, such as my laptop but also subscriptions etc: I aim to have as few recurring payments as possible. This includes avoiding to own a car (Hello Zipcar) and mortgage (not that I can afford it at this point, but still). I can recommend everyone to do a cleanup in that area every now and then.
I live in NYC and managed to get a little office within walking distance so I can be "subway independent". Sure I save a few dollars on walking to work, but the biggest gain is to miss out on the frequent delays and floodings! Yay!
How about removing some clicking steps, why not offer the reply links (optionally) straight in the email? Like:

Hi YEurope! I am part of the Ycombinator batch that started this January. I dont understand the voices that are negative about other startup incubators like yours etc. The more initiatives that enable ideas to become companies, the better I say. So I say go for it!

Java kills the creative process. Thats one of the reasons we went with PHP for things closer to the front end. We do use Java for things that are in the background that wont change from day to day. Image processing etc..
Dont underestimate the time from idea to a rapid prototype. For a programmer, at least me, its very rewarding when that is kept short.
