I feel Reddit could have easily come up with a model where the API usage gets tied to premium account and that decouples apps from API charges.

Reddit has now created a new problem for itself which is that a huge user base that previously didn't bother to look at third-party apps has suddenly become aware of third-party apps. So now, they will start bypassing Reddit's official apps that generate revenue for Reddit in favor of third-party apps that seemingly have a better UX and are ad-free.

If anything, the mods are getting a break from their stressful lives as Reddit mods.

This! I tried using third-party apps and for some reason didn't like them. The official app is clunky but it is not like we haven't seen similar experiences with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

I mean look at Twitter, since going private, the whole thing has been so clunky, but the parameters governing how well Twitter is doing are still hinging policies related free speech, user-abuse and content moderation.

I don't think Seminis is really saying that they can't make it anymore, rather the issue is that for a common farmer it is not worth planting something and worrying about a lawsuit from Monsanto/Seminis to prove they provence of the seeds.

With open source seeds, 1. The farmer knows that they there are no legal issues with using specfic seeds 2. The onus is on Seminis to prove that their seed is not a derivative of open-source seed, which means they have to file a lawsuit against a non-profit (hopefully well funded) instead of a lone farmer

What you are overlooking is the risk aspect. If you are guaranteed a return of say 6 to 7%, you are looking at doubling the money in about 10 to 12 years. That kind of assurance means you can invest much more with specific goals in mind.

This is the reason people take a more balanced approach where they split their investments in say a 70-30 or 90-10 ratio and put a smaller percentage in short term high risk - high return investment.

I find the inflation as a variable very interesting. Countries that don't have strong economies generally tend to have higher inflation. So we may continue to see the stock market continue to rise indirectly due to inflation but the net return would be much lower.

If something unethical works doesn't mean it should be condoned.

It does because there have been instances where some countries are fed up of tourists from specific countries.

This is primarily due to cultural differences and presumptions that absence of law-enforcement(e.g. if there is no security guard at a gate, it is ok to go inside) means it is legal to do something stupid.
