Cost is not the only factor voters considered, bringing manufacturing jobs and expertise back to US is a big part of the tariff push. If cost were the only factor everyone would buy the cheapest crap off temu or amazon. People are willing to pay a premium for the hope of bringing manufacturing back and reducing reliance on foreign sources.

People that favor tariffs, want to bring manufacturing capabilities back to the US, in the hopes of creating jobs, and increasing national security by minimizing dependence on foreign governments for critical capabilities. This is legitimate cost benefit analysis not bellyfeel. People are aware of the increased cost associated with it.

>>They could be having video calls with the controller with crystal clear audio from anywhere on this planet instead of yelling to them over VHF only when they are in range.

Your forgetting about latency, which matters when you are trying to land an airplane. Also who cares if you could talk to the aircraft from anywhere in the world with different technology? The only thing that matters is there is a low latency audio connection between the traffic controller and all the planes coming in. Direct line of site VHF communications is better in every conceivable metric then any alternative. It has nothing to do with old technology or design by committee.

>but if you actually trust/believe that farmers don't cheat during facility inspections, I don't know what to tell you. Every USDA organic farm I've ever had an inside track on is guilty, and that's quite a few

This is how half the country feels about election officials.

People focus on the negatives in life and ignore all the positives: nearly free access to all the worlds information, infinite media and entertainment, no world wars, medicine, and on and on.... Everyone on earth is better off today then 50 years ago. Its human nature to complain. We shouldn't crap on the previous generation they did extremely good for human kind. The folks on antiwork are good for nothing except complaining, disregard.

>>rent, food, etc. will all just magically get more expensive.

It's called supply and demand, nothing magical about it. The only thing magical is leftists thinking this won't happen.
