Yes it feels awful to me. Seems like every Chromium and Electron app is sluggish and choppy, and as someone who uses Brave, VSCode, and Slack all day I am straight up not having a good time. Hopefully it gets resolved soon. This is on an M1 MBP Pro with 32GB ram.

I don't know if that's really the case. When I worked retail I mostly really liked chatting with customers.

My wife has like a 230 day streak in Duolingo and every time I speak any Spanish to her (I'm like early intermediate level maybe) she doesn't understand. She's just hooked on making number go up.

Check out Dreaming Spanish, hours and hours and hours of free comprehensible input content, and then some premium content on top of that when you run out. It's been great for my listening comprehension.

I think the motivation here is that Twitter is charging about half a million dollars a year for access to their API when it was previously either free or close to free.

There are likely a ton of tools that are using the Twitter API in ways that helps Twitter and almost all of them are going to be locked out because there's no way they can afford $42,000/mo.

Plus with hedonic adaptation most people won't even feel happier or less stressed after they get used to the lifestyle (unless they're coming from levels of poverty that leave you with a high baseline level of stress at all times)

I personally don't want someone to clone my voice without my permission and then use it to make money. I imagine many people feel the same way.

I agree that I would prefer to move to a society where we don't have to work, but do you honestly think we're moving in that direction? We'll get the "there's no work" part, but not the "and here's some money" part.

Money largely gains its value from its ability to be used to pay taxes. If there is someone who controls land and an army and says "this is valuable and you have to pay a certain amount to me at certain intervals" then it is valuable, at least within that political configuration.

Creating complex type definitions for more generic components is hard and require knowledge about internals.

This is what turned me off of Svelte initially. Usually when I make websites I start by defining some primitive components like <Button> or <TextInput>. I could not figure out how to type my <Button> component so that it takes every single attr and event that a regular <button> takes plus some extra attrs that I want to define (theme, size, etc.) This is trivial in React so I was surprised that it didn't really seem possible in Svelte.

I just started using Vite earlier this week so I was a bit dismayed to see a major version release right after I got my project configured, but my experience was the same as yours. Bumped the version in package.json and I'm good to go. My experience converting a project from CRA to Vite was really smooth too, it only took about 20 minutes.

The idea that it's caused by "bailouts" is just a talking point. Personally I think it boils down to a few things:

1. Older people taking retirement early when the pandemic hit.

2. People in service/public-facing industries leaving for jobs that could be done remotely, or going back to school.

3. Several hundred thousand working age people dying from COVID.

Good luck with that. There are basically two scenarios here to consider in a popular violent revolution:

1) The army sides with the people. In this case, the right to keep and bear arms is basically irrelevant as you have the backing of the world's most powerful army.

2) The army sides with the government. In this case, even the militia types with huge munitions caches don't stand a chance against the world's most powerful army. This is not 1776, it wouldn't be musket vs. musket.

Our CMS, Forge (http://factore.ca/forge-cms) is a semi-open source (in that you're free to use it for whatever you want but we don't have a community built up for it yet) Ruby on Rails CMS that focuses on rapid application development. It's VERY opinionated (moreso than Rails) but it lets you get things done really quickly and mostly stays out of your way on the front-end. Violentacrez is a scumbag and the fact that redditors are willing to stand behind him as some sort of show of reddit brotherhood is a large part of the reason why I don't go there much anymore.

I think you misread the comment. Ketogenic was one diet, 1250kcal/day was another. I lost a significant amount of weight on a ketogenic diet as well but it's been about a year and a half and it's hard to keep away from those carbs...

They should just license it. I think all the people who are saying it's analogous to the Apple/Samsung debacle are reaching though. No one is going to walk into a store with the intent of buying a Mondaine watch and leave with an iPhone instead.
