The phone companies say that the ruling will free up more of their resources to improve their broadband services, although at least one FCC commissioner says he will be watching to see if that's really the case.

ISPs such as EarthLink, which already have a hard time competing on price, may still negotiate access contracts with the phone companies but are looking for alternative ways to deliver their services.

EarthLink sold the next year to Windstream for $673 million in an all-stock transaction. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2016/11/dial-...

Three years later... Windstream unloads legacy EarthLink internet assets for $330M https://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/windstream-unloads-leg...

Facebook: Hey everyone! No more cryptocurrency ads.

Google: We're banning them too.

Big Pharma: But not us right?

Google: No, we appreciate your business...

Facebook: How much are you looking to spend??

I was targeted this evening by a hacker who ported my phone number, and then got into FB + Yahoo (SMS reset).

The motive appears to be bitcoin, based on the people contacted via facebook.

Is it possible the initial PIN that was sent by Tmobile was intercepted via SS7? I am trying to find out if my phone (android) is compromised as well.

The accounts and phone number are back under my control but I want to find out the vector as soon as possible -I don't trust tmobile to honor requests not to allow porting.

You don't have to rate the driver anymore I believe. Even if you put the step of tipping after getting out of the cab, it's a step.

Having a preset option is a good way to take out the friction, but instead you could just not include tipping and pay higher wages. Tipping is a way for businesses to bury the actual cost of a service.

I understand as a driver, it's nice to get tips, but if you get paid a fair wage it shouldn't matter.

It adds friction to the process for getting from A to B.

Cabs

1. Find a cab

2. Hail the cab

3. Get in cab

4. Decide what to tip the cab

5. Pay the cab driver

6. Get out of cab

vs

Uber (without tipping)

1. Hail the uber from phone

2. Get in uber

3. Get out of uber

You could make the argument that tipping is optional, but deciding not to tip is still a decision making step.

I am purely naive of this project and not of another project with a similar name. I thought ReactOS was newer than ReactJS due to the version number.

The analysis was entertaining, but over-speculative.
