Some have increased while other have decreased. The total number of crimes have increased by my own experience. Many of the crimes are not reported. It is the experience of other residents as well [8]. For example, my experience is that car window breaking has increased dramatically. I did not have any car window breaking in the first 5 years in SF (I live in a relatively safer neighborhood). This year, my window was smashed. I see glasses all over the streets nowadays. I did bother to report to the police because i did not think the police would be able to do something about it.

Anyway, as a mayor, if London Breed promised to do something and she did not, it is a sign of incompetency. It erodes her own credibility.

London Breed is a bad mayor for SF. She defunded the police by $120 million during the movement [1] while she spent $12.4 million on her own personal security detail [2]. And now she pledges more police. It's a slap on her own face. She dances in a nightclub without a mask, breaking the very rule she set herself [3]. She partied at the French Laundry restaurant while she encouraged everyone else to shelter in place [4]. London Breed is a terrible mayor for SF. As the innovation center of the world, SF deserves better. Can anyone shed some light on how she got elected?

As a Canadian citizen myself, I firmly urge fellow Canadians to have their own independent thinking and policies. Canada should not be manipulated by foreign politicians. This is blatant interference of Canada's internal affairs by foreign politicians. If the US wants to fight China, Canada should not side with either. It is our best interest to stay neutral.

This time is quite different. When AMD beat Intel technologically, Intel still had the lead in process technology while AMD had better chip designs. Now, time has changed. TSMC leads Intel in process technology while AMD contracts TSMC to make chips. AMD will have both the advantages in chip design and process technology. It is more likely that Intel will fall further behind TSMC, as TSMC has been investing heavily (more than even Samsung).

One thing that stands out is that Alibaba has 18 founders. It is almost unheard of in the west. Jack Ma is a true legend. He has a humble background and failed college entrance exam three times before being accepted into an ordinary school (Gates and Jobs entered school without much a problem).

My experience with Prime Wardrobe has been negative. I ordered three shirts to try out more than a week ago. I still have not received them. With Prime, you can receive your orders in 2 to 3 days and return them if you don't like them. Wardrobe is slower and does not add additional values.

Bitcoin is no more speculation than gold. Gold has its price. It is rarely used (I have not seen anyone exchanging value using gold). It cannot be eaten, drunk, lived in, or used as a tool (I guess you can use it as a weapon like a brick). Yes, it is used to make jewelries because it is expensive not because its intrinsic usability or functionalities (there are other metals or plastics that look better and weigh lighter than gold). Yet it is expensive. As a matter of fact, it is harder to use gold to exchange value than Bitcoin because you have to weigh gold and test its purity.

I have had some experience on Taobao and Tmall. Taobao is for C2C (customers to customers) while Tmall is b2c (business to customers). Tmall has better quality in general (the brands sell directly to customers). For Taobao, the quality varies greatly. For me, I always read the ratings and reviews, in particular negative reviews very carefully. If the percentage of negative reviews is high, I would avoid that product. So far, I have had good experience. I bought some really high quality goods at very low prices. Similar goods would cost a lot more on Amazon.

It is unfortunate that the Chinese government made those demands. By no means I am trying to defend the Chinese government. That said, there is a difference here. Apply was trying to comply with the laws in China (I cannot think of a single country where you can operate above the local laws). However, here in the US, it was requested by FBI, not a court order or subpoena. It is not fair to Apple or other companies by forcing them to enforce human rights while doing business. Google pulled out of China not because of human rights but because they were losing to Baidu in China market. It was more a business decision than anything else (Google spins it differently of course).

As an avid user of Toutiao, I am super impressed by Toutiao. It is super easy to use and shows the content I am mostly interested in. I use it daily to get information. I am a little bit worried that I would not get broad views if Toutiao only shows articles I am interested in.

Interesting code. Some first impressions. 1. This gigantic file can be split into multiple smaller files. It takes even a while for my browser to render the whole source file. 2. There is inline assembly in the code. Is this for performance or some other purposes?
