That's a great idea! I'm trying to think what the best approach for picking the items from the list would be. Maybe start with things in the same category - ex: movies vs books. Alternatively, it could try a bunch of combinations and only report the best based on some sort of "diversity of results" score.

Each year I've had a secret I use to find gifts for people: go to Amazon, find two things I know my gift recipient likes, then compare the "similar items" section to find matches. It's kind of tedious to do, but it works like a charm. This year, I made a GiftMating to do the same things with less effort.

PS: really loving Foundation as an alternative to Bootstrap - you get a responsive layout that you can use by specifying the grid in css instead of in html.

When I see job post titles like these, sometimes I find myself trying to give the company the benefit of the doubt and assume that they're just bragging about themselves instead of asking developers to evaluate themselves ("awesome developer" => "awesome job for a developer").

It's fine to brag, but they can do so much better than a single dimensional word like awesome. All companies think they're awesome. I'd love it if they took the time to express the subtleties of WHY they think they're awesome.

One thing I've been wondering a lot about is anti-warning signs - things that turn technical cofounders off that aren't necessarily bad things.

The first thing that comes to mind is arrogance. It certainly puts me off, but it seems like you need a good dose of arrogance to think you can solve a daunting problem.

I was under the impression that self-posts were not frowned upon. I've found some of the best content here to be self-posts.

I try to make sure Posterous attributes them to me (see the end of this post for an example).

If people don't find them interesting, I can stop posting them. I had been under the impression that self-posts were fine. Most of the time, we're trying to be an advocate for job seekers (currently just developers) in a market that is very company friendly.

It wrote the post - glad it was amusing. It happened about 2 years ago while I was at a startup in NYC that was tanking. I was thinking of jumping ship before the eventual collapse. The problems I experienced during this particular job search led me to eventually start Hirelite.

I just updated the title from "My Worst Interview" to "My Worst Phone Screen" to be more clear.
