I feel like this article reads like the author is upset that Apple + Google prevent / control certain types of notifications (read: spam)

Cross-sell, upsell, education and discovery can work on push

Push notifications should only be for transactional notifications. I don't want another inbox for junk.

For anyone looking to find out more about how computers work at a very basic level, I really recommend the book "Code" by Charles Petzold. Goes from first principles all the way up.

One thing that I find hard to understand is how the electricity prices in the UK have gone up so dramatically (blaming gas prices) when a large amount of the electricity is not generated from gas. Is the price being artificially inflated?

You can feasibly combine an RCD and an isolated transformer, not sure I've seen this done before though or if it gives any real benefit.

In fact, you can buy transformers that are ungrounded to isolate the supply and make it safe to touch either wire. When combined with an RCD, this makes a very safe system

I may be biased, but I think British plugs are great. They have integrated fuses and are switchable too! The sockets have shutters as well to stop children sticking paperclips or forks in and electrocuting themselves.

Not great to stand on, however

Yes, MySQL has more developed methods of replication. There are also some specific functionalities available in either MySQL or Postgres that you may pick based on your use case (geo, upsert, insert and replace). There's definite variation with feature parity and performance that makes either a better choice depending on use case.

If you're looking for customer support, I really recommend First Direct, their phone support is completely unreal, 1 ring and you're through to someone that can service any banking need you might have with them, no transfers, no waiting, no fiddly security it works really well!

Their app has come a long way recently too.

Does anyone know when Kubernetes will stabilise their IPv6 support? Anyone using / planning to use this in production?

ISPs can always (and sometimes do) use NAT, Then they only need a few IPs. I know most mobile providers do this.

Slack's business model is to record everything said in a workspace and then to sell you access to their record of your conversations.

Whilst this is partially true, One of the key features enterprises need and that Slack supplies is the ability to fully export messages for transfer and compliance purposes.

One of the main differentiators between paid and unpaid slack is message retention. To my knowledge, I don't think the XMPP and IRC were used by anyone to overcome this limit but I'm pretty sure it's been done using their API.

They haven't shut of usage of their API for this purpose so I'm pretty sure that lost sales is the motivation behind this change.

The OP talks about the relevant ways Slack can implement features into their XMPP and IRC endpoints to allow new features. But this probably generates a lot of technical debt for a feature that isn't used by many people. (Also, anecdotally, I've found very few XMPP clients that actually support any of the proposed extensions).
