I started with hyprland when I switched my desktop from windows to arch recently (june) and moved to sway. I ran into bugs and behaviour I don't like:

- Having two monitors and turning them off (either physically or through dpms) shifts all workspaces to the last monitor that is on, even if it's on for a split second,

- Turning off monitors (physically/dpms) caused waybar to crash.

I don't have those issues on sway, so I'll stick with it until hyprland matures a little more.

I just tried it and it works as expected for Windows <--> Android.

I was using syncthing but this will replace it for one offs.

EDIT: I checked out another app in the comments and their website mentioned that it didn't work with a VPN. I can also confirm that LocalSend works when connected to VPN.

desktop: nvim + syncthing + vimwiki (md markup instead of default)

mobile: syncthing + Markor[1]

On mobile I have a todo.txt[2] in addition to the vim wiki files which are all synced.

All this works pretty well for my personal needs. For work I use OneNote because the whole company uses OneNote.

I doubt they are under copyright, if they were, cover bands or bands making covers of songs would be getting sued willy nilly.

Just like a bunch of us here, I also wrote an SSG.

I setup a cronjob to fetch weather data and run the SSG to parse the XML and render a weather "website" on my VPS.

But for the blogs I've had/have, I just use a pre-existing one (zola). There are hundreds of SSGs out there, why bother building yet another one if one already exists for transforming your preferred base doc (markdown, asciidoc, morse code, etc)

It is probably a good idea to have a financial advisor do this for you since they have the know-how (and certification depending where you live) and will know about regional benefits you can apply which can increase your "wealth". However, if you want to do this yourself because you know the space then there is software like this, or Wealth Simple for example.

If in fact wood turns into a truly viable alternative for satellite manufacturing, it does have some potential benefits compared to the typical metal alloys used in today’s constructions. For one, it is more environmentally friendly, across the board. It is easier, cheaper and cleaner to produce, and is much more disposable when it comes to a satellite's end-of-life.

There's no mention of how a wooden satellite would compare to a "standard" satellite in terms of weight. Would they be similar?

With all the negative comments in the thread I had expected some kind of massive changes but it basically looks the same. Sure, nitpick about this or that but in the end the overall look remains nearly identical (for calendar, again, havent seen the other screens).

I am seeing similar results. That being said, I'm only using thunderbird on Windows, so I can't speak to Mac/Linux perf.

Even better, its only $399! I think its a great deal at only 50 bucks more than the OLED switch model personally.

I am sometimes required to have my resume in multiple languages. My current workflow is to create a copy of an english version and then translate it to the language required.

Would LaTeX make this easier, using something like templating where I could have a resource file for each language or would I still need to maintain multiple versions?

Yes, Alt+F4 does close the application (no more process). Clicking on the X closes the window and moves the icon to the system tray, effectively hiding the icon and making the icon on the task bar disappear (or if pinned seem like the application isn't running).

Anecdotally, I rarely use alt+f4 to close a window.

I'm not so sure I like the idea of my private keys being synced to "the cloud". I much prefer my current workflow where my yubikey is the sole owner of my private key. It is unclear to me if I will be able to continue using this method with passkeys.

A note on the unix tools, if you have git (with git bash I guess) installed, you can add C:\Program Files\Git\usr\bin to your environment Path and you'll have access to ls, grep, tail, etc... from powershell.

I think one of the main differences is that scoop will install for the local user. Which means you don't have to install stuff from an admin console (I think you can do that with choco but its not the default).

I also just checked to see what apps I've used in scoop vs choco and the only one that choco doesn't have (that scoop does) is wsl-ssh-agent.

scoop had all the apps I install through choco.

I'm sure theres more differences that go a little deeper, but as a simple end user, those are the only things I've noticed

I deleted my FB account about 8 years ago. The only thing that is a minor inconvenience is when people organize events over FB. The events I'm talking about is never from family or friends and usually for local groups or businesses.

Keeping in touch with family is pretty easy through calls/texts.

By the time I got rid of facebook, my feed was just full of spam and hot takes from people I didn't really interact with IRL anymore.

Having heard about this for the first time, I think it's a great initiative. However, I'm concerned about the liabilities of having vetted a crate only to accidentally (ie non-maliciously) miss some kind of vulnerability.

I am assuming you mean "who don't work" when you say provide zero value. The poor encompass more than just people living in a cardboard box in some alley. There are poor people living paycheck to paycheck who are barely able to afford food AND a roof over their head. A poor person can be a single parent with two kids who works two minimum wage jobs just to be able to provide for their family.
