Let's start by removing the CEGEP system here in Quebec...

Technology is like a marathon with no winner; it's awesome!
Well, a solution to synchronize your files directly from your Windows Explorer up to the cloud is a "dropbox-like" feature.
Unlimited internet is, but for enterprises only.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. We are talking as much information possible for the BetaOne!
I may not be a long time HN user, even less of an experienced one, but I think that the race for Karma may be responsible. The core mechanic of HN is to function through Karma, but unfortunately it is also the source of this problematic. If users are obsessed about obtaining it, why not make that every action on HN costs some.
Another problem is what the comments are about. It's more a matter of Objectivity vs Subjectivity. At first the point of a comment is to give a point of view about the article and then discuss about it. I have found that now it is more a matter of who has the best point of view and that if it is contrary to the majority; it will fail. Thus resulting in multiple pointless comments, giant upvoting for the one who "blasts" the one with a different point of view and so on.
Filtering may be a solution, but if the problem can;t really be solved with an algorithm due to the human nature, it is a matter of a longer brainstorm...
Don't judge the platform now. Look at iOS when it started or even worst, Android in the G1!
Trust me, this is pure! I was getting something in my bookmarks when I saw that link. I wanted to share this marvelous piece of animation!
It's just that I used After Effects in numerous advertisements and presentation videos. he result is phenomenal especially when using the built in 3D capability and the particle system. Simply flying through the object, having the name of the product appearing then boom press the button the product activates, zooms in it and shows the features, etc. Cinema 4D, like my dear 3DS Max are 3D Modeling software, and animation in then will still result in a video file that needs to be paused and resumed in the right moment. I think I will have to use PowerPoint to assemble the different parts of the video then! Thanks mate!
Seriously, it amazed me everything. You see everything life, from he mesh that holds the very matter to the limits of the universe; and you can control the hole this, with a Flash slider.
Reminds me of the "Known Universe video from AMNH" So eye opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17jymDn0W6U
Come on, one day without rules why the heck not? We're coding, hacking, reading and informing ourselves all year long. There isn't something bad with Google dancing to write an email or TechCrunch giving false hopes to startups! And if you do not like April Fools day, no problem; don't open your browser and continue coding :)
Compare with numbers:
A "real" game like you say costs around 40$. It is a very well known gameplay (RTS,FPS,RPG,MMORPG,etc.) but in different clothing. You might play with it for 2-3 months.
Slice HD is a unique gameply, a new experience. You will have a heck lot of fun playing it because it is something fresh that you interact with. I may not be an iPad fan, but the thing is that your 1 month with this whole new game and experience only costs 3$.
For 40$ you can buy multiple amazing games with new dynamics while supporting some indie developpers. It sure wont replace those "big game" but for the price and the fun, it can't be matched!
A true tablet game! Not another try at porting a console or PC gameplay like a First or Third person shooter on this form-factor. This is something that you need a touchscreen device to experience at best. Simply amazing as is the execution!
Great idea! It still needs to be tested of course for an accurate feedback, but the idea itself is really cool.
Only thing that I am concerned of is the lack of a policy and terms of use. Basically we are sending you our address and key and there is no legal policies or terms of use on the website concerning the use of these pictures, how they will be used and stored. I think this is the main concern I see.
Great website! I just lost 20 minutes of my life rating food to then die in even to eat many of them. I think it is therefore a mission success!
I think a great concept you could add would be a food fight mode where you create your own fight between two image you added and can send a link to it. This would be great when two person argue about who cooked better or what tastes better between two thing. It would be a simple way to incorporate the classic human fight over two meal with a fun tool to get a result out the fight.
Great simplistic design! Just a question, I havent done some more twsting but; is it normal that the game doesn't work on iPad Safari? Do you need to drag the pieces ?
I think that the title is misleading in the sense that you do not find a business partner. It should something like: Who could be your business partner.
Well the fact is that, at least there is a reference and while we have to critisize it in order to impove it, we have to achknowledge the fact that they are trying something compared to many others. Just take a look at the TechCrunch post where they talked about how bad the Startup Visa was and later a new redefined version of the US Startup Visa is in the works. There's a start with StartupBritain, why not contribute?!
Well at some point heavily critisizing it is be the best way to impove it. There's a start, and that great. Simply the fact that they can point someone to 99designs might just make his day and be a big problem resolved for him/her.
I think the average person just flipped at the moment they saw the big 42 beside a new software they have never seen. I'm pretty sure if we would have seen the Color app and idea by its own, we would have taken much more time to investigate the story and potencial of the app rather than the reason of funding.
Investing 25 Million in something that isn't an issue or a need? Google brought an organised and simple search engine for the whole web... I don't get the Color app. We'll see how it evolves and grows because right now, it's just another funky mobile app.
Well, by going on Hacker News quite often you don't really need the "More" link.
That's a great part of the business; ideas and people travels! Look at Matias Duarte -the designer of WebOS- he moved to the Android team and made (made is technically speaking) the Honeycomb we now know. Designers and coders moves and makes the industry moving in a great way because it creates diversity and changes!
When Microsoft itself started a campain against IE6 (http://www.ie6countdown.com/) users should do a small lookup over all those other updated browsers for XP.
Congratulations mate ! :D
That's uncompetitive, everyone should just get the browser they like either it is IE9, Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari - they just need to get rid of IE8/7 and PLEASE ie6.
Well that changes everything! Users can now received files not only over multople computers bit over multiple devices! From a web form to your computer to your iPad! Brilliant!
I am just hoping that for a 10 inch device it wont tell me "Location Services isn't ON go to Settings to activate it", at least just put the damn button in that disruptive notification window you have.
The hardware is impeccable, but nobody had any problem with the thickness of the first iPad and that's what they changed. They know their average consumer don't know all those things and functions like tabbed browsing, so they take advantage of it by not taking some of their time and budget to develop those functions. They take advantage of their market.
How can a consumer complain about something they don't know; they can. But they still have the right to fully understand what is available elsewhere and what functionality (that is quite crucial) they just decided to omit. Consumers have the right to know all these things.
Defending the product and just saying it is all nice and good means that it will stay that way. Criticizing and getting informed is what everyone should do in order to make good decision and keeping every new technology advanced and innovative not repetitive !
Improve the OS so it doesn't feel like a big iPod Touch! Maximize the iOS Core for the tablet environment, not just stretch it!
Come on, the iPad doesn't even have a tabbed browser and they still call it the "best web experience" and I'm not talking about Flash. When you have a full tablet and you still have to quit your program, go find the settings icon, to click on Generla to finaly activate your Bluetooth.... it's just plain ridiculous!
You changed the way people will access mobile information with your first tablet, but don't get stuck with it!
The problem with Steve Jobs and the Apple gang is that, they indeed innovate first, but then they stop. The iPad was a revolutionary approach at tablet computing, even if the device was quite dumb. But making your second iPad exactly the same (sorry but a cover and slimmer does not equal innovation) that is just plain ridiculous, especially when they have the capability to make something incredible.
They are just taking advantage of their brand right now, like if they were still the old Apple that struggled to innovate!
The vision and execution is there, it's still Apple, but now they are just taking advantage of their market!
