I’ve been looking for this for my team but haven’t found it. Providers like OpenAI and Anthropic offer admin token to manage team accounts and you look hook into Ollama or another self managed service for local AI.

Seems like a great way to roll out AI to a medium sized team where a very small team can coordinate access to the best available tools so the entire team doesn’t need to keep pace at the current break-neck speed.

I did with the 2018 11” + Magic Keyboard. I felt very capable of doing most day-to-day tasking with the keyboard and mouse. Video calls sucked because the camera is off to the side when in the Magic Keyboard. Stage Manager might help even more, I found the previous “windowing” features to be lacking.

From the tech specs: Up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching video. 9 hours if using Cellular data.

No horizontal camera is a dealbreaker for me at this point. I know it’s minor, but that would truly let me leave the laptop/desktop at home.

This is almost certainly a proof of concept based on language in the PR. The Government should always keep a pulse on the market and be willing to buck the status quo. Office is the standard now, but GSuite could be so in 15 years.

“The government has asked for more choice in cloud vendors…”

This was probably a major factor. Government, and more specifically DoD need more variety.

Many of European states (including mine) are looking into ways of replacing Teams and Office 365.

Can you explain why this is the case?

As a U.S. based user dealing with Government work o365 GCC High seems basically required. :/

I loathe Teams, but MSFT makes it hard to choose something else when it's included in all o365 tiers.

Really the biggest thing is that Nikon is just brutally behind in tech compared to Sony and even Canon.

I don't see how that is true in the slightest. The Z9 is a true flagship that stacks up well against the competition. Cameras lower down on the segment stack can also hold their own, albeit some would argue the autofocus is lacking. Autofocus is just one piece of the tech in a camera.

I understand that, but I think the target users of the Z9 would much rather have faster I/O. There are a number of articles and videos benchmarking the Z9 and the buffer performance is directly correlated to the speed of the storage. If Nikon went with Type A/SD their theoretical max buffer speed would get cut in half.

It’s a shame Nikon couldn’t use CFexpress Type A cards like we saw on the Sony A1 and A7S III, which can still fit SD cards in their ports. Of course, given that Type A cards are manufactured by Sony, it’s understandable why Nikon wouldn’t want to use their competitor’s innovation on their flagship.

I don't see how it is a shame. Nikon ensured users will have a better, more consistent user experience by going with Type B slots. Type A cards have half the theoretical max throughput [0] and cost more per GB. I suspect most people using a $5,500 camera don't put high importance on SD card compatibility.

I think Sony uses Type A CFe due to their small bodies.

Exciting news. Sounds like Cron will remain separate while they work out a way to integrate into Notion.

Off topic: Does anyone else have trouble using Notion because of the .so domain? We've had a number of corporate firewalls wholesale block the .so TLD and Notion is a casualty. Hopefully they switch over to .com soon.

I don’t mean to discredit Framework in the slightest but they are still leagues away from Apple when it comes to build quality.

The entire industry struggles to match Apple’s fit and finish, it will be an uphill battle for a hardware based startup. I do hope they succeed.

My MagSafe cord for the 2021 MBP stays at home and it's USB-C while on the go. Still, the return of MagSafe is welcome just so folks have the option.

Agreed. Just wanted to point out that it is possible if you have a flexible definition of "coding on an iPad".

I've developed on an iPad using Termius SSHed to an EC2 node running tmux. Worked great.

Apple M1 Ultra 4 years ago

Agreed, I think they will use the 4C config to debut M2 and make a slash. They said in the keynote that M1 Ultra completes the M1 family. Timing works out well for November launch with the 2 year apple silicon transition timeline they gave themselves. Not sure what they are going to call it and if it will be A15 or A16 based.

A16 would give great performance, and I think it’s safe for them to have a two year iteration time on laptop/desktops vs one year for phone/tablet.

Nikon doesn’t target the cinema segment of the camera market, but hopefully the recently released Nikon Z9 gets added to the list soon!
