I apologize if I have hurt anyone's sentiments here. I didn't intend to hurt anybody here. My comment was probably an impulsive, but unwanted, reaction. It being the startup group forum, I was under the impression that only things related to ideas and their execution will be discussed. But I was probably wrong. I am seeing that topics are varying a lot here. There are topics from generating power from urine to how to predict the trend of twitter.

In any case, I consider it as my mistake to put this comment which has been considered by some as offensive. I regret the same.

I wish there was some way to delete it. I would have deleted it if it was possible.

Thanks

I am also amazed the way StackOverflow manages such a huge knowledge base . Information is such nicely organised and unwanted content automatically gets trimmed out in the end.

It is such a beautiful product. I like it particularly for the way they broke the rules of conventional forums (Yahoo forums , Google Groups ) for technical discussions.

Exactly. I was also thinking that Finacial Engineering also tries to garner the advantage of statistical analysis of stock market based on previous trends. But I am sure there is no 100% accurate model. Moreover statistical model need to be changed as behavior start changing.

I wonder if that will reflect here as well.

In any case, It has some interesting applications as they mentioned in ticketing.

I agree. It is truly a great read.

I also read the book "Connect the Dots" 2 years back. That tells the founding stories of 20-25 founders. But all those stories are from India and are about general businesses.

It is so inspiring to read success stories of other people and you also learn the way they think about the problems and the way they tackle it.

It is unfortunate but change is difficult too. Countries , like companies , have to be crafted thoughtfully and carefully (Google <--> US) otherwise they end up being mess like ( India <--> Yahoo ). I feel same for both Yahoo and India. They both were amazing but now in a state of mess.

That is an interesting point. In fact, till last week, spam filter of facebook comment plugin was not very good. There were so many "ad based" posts on TechCrunch. But now they have fixed it which is good.

Spam filter for voice content will be an interesting thing and challenging too. I am not sure if how does youtube does it ?? It can be a new direction to think for "Spam masters" like Akismet.

Is there any alternative ? I guess there platform is very generic that is why there are 1000s of themes. I was able to build up http://syncfin.com in less than a month using wordpress and with an awesome theme. I believe it is a great platform but would like to know if there is any alternative ? I am not looking for RoR or DJango for just a simple blogging needs until there is some significant performance improvement prrof.
