Digg is too techie!! I like Yahoo's offbeat stories on their homepage.
Use CRF for classifying/labeling.
Its extremely well written, easy to define features etc. Reasonably good support too.
Everytime I fail, I redefine success ;)
pray ;)
I liked the nifty drop down menus!!
I agree. The video is a lil too long!!
poptakeout looks very professional and clean!
We are doing IPhone development. Its a web app. To the best of my knowledge, there is no official SDK available (yet) to build native IPhone apps. Is there any specific reason why you want to build a native app?
Very impressive. Is it just css or did you use any images etc.? Are you a designer?
$100K is not enough to sustain two employees for an year. $50K is less than the annual average living expenses for a person. (Just do the Math, housing, insurance, etc.). I would strongggggggggly recommend to try raising something between 0.75M an 1M. I have noticed a lot of fellow hackers seriously undervaluing the time they spend building a product. Two strong hackers, working for 6 months is eaily $140K expenses(and I am including just the salary an employer would pay). Please, please do not undervalue your time and expertise.
With the oncoming recession and all, you do want to have enough in the bank for at least 1 to 2 years, if you are serious about your startup.
That's a very keen observation. I am not sure about the 'lot easier' part though.
One thing that's common among all these "mega-valuations" startups are star-founders who have had billion dollar exits in the past.
I really wish someone made wise estimates of their current revenue/profit numbers or at least provide the thought process that went behind coming up with $500M+ valuation.
That's very keen observation indeed!
Okay George you got my vote :)
I would recommend ubuntu dapper.
Nice post! What company did you start Modoc?
Very inspiring indeed!
There is no 'Sign up' next to the login. Are you guys still in private beta/alpha? I am using flock 1.0.5.
- Get CS3. You would waste more time figuring out how to get the stuff done using free tools. Plus you might not be able to avail use of adobe's help lists/groups. Your time is valuable.
- Instead of trying to create from scratch, get .swf/.as files for some free/open source flash game and hack your way through. With your strong coding skills, it would be a lot easier to hack through an existing piece of code.
I would really like to see a real name in each category ;)
How did they come up with these numbers?
Don't write your own crawler. Use nutch.
It is designed to scale and do mapreduce kind of parallel processing. I would strongly recommend you to take a look before writing your own.
Hi,
300K pviews a month is pretty good. Can you point me to your blog? I would love to check it out.
What does your startup do?
I have tried Vista on my friend's laptop. Its ultraaaaaa slow. It looks like it was released a little too early.
