Oh weird. I definitely did not do this for the record.

I've been using FreeCad more and more, but solvespace has been a great, lightweight tool to design parts for laser cutting by SendCutSend/Oshcut.
Neat that they got it working in the browser.
I've been in the bowels of the domestic robot/drone parts supply chain. It's ugly, almost non-existent. I wish there was more of a carrot, but the opportunity for that was frankly 5 years ago.
NDAA has been a saving grace that we have anything like https://arkelectron.com/
Frankly, they should just rip the bandaid off and apply it to robotics like robovacs/delivery bots/etc scanning homes/offices/critical infrastructure at this point.
Baby TPU, not the big ones in GCP datacenters...
Seems to be from the same team as https://www.taiga.io/
So, probably open core, self hosted with paid SAAS.

Autonomous machines that only bill when they’re working. Scythe wins when its customers grow, not when they suffer.
Interesting- pay per usage revenue model.

... not aware of anything in this field. This has been on my "one day if I have time" lists to build.
I’m having trouble putting a term to similar situations:
Where people (whether government, corporate, nonprofit) get in over their head and create these sorts of problems while trying to solve something they don’t appropriately understand.
There’s a lot of poor decision making in our institutions ranging from HOA’s, multinational nonprofits, and federal governments, notably in domain specific situations that require nuanced understanding.
Maybe we need to start introducing the concepts of circuit breakers in our rules, regulations & laws to eject when something goes wrong or doesn’t go right based on basic KPI’s.
Have we solved the “basics” (despite not getting those right) and are running into compounding edge cases? Do we just need people better equipped to handle these decisions? I think these sorts of problems (more broadly than the specific topic in the article) are going to be a plague on our society.
I haven't been able to scan the interior (transmission tunnel in this case).
But that would be the general idea. Scan interior - 3d model parts to fit in that scanned world - 3d print/CNC cut those parts to fit.
I like it more for 2d work.
I haven’t gotten into the groove with it for 3d workflows. I probably need to do some more tutorials for it on that front.
Yep, I'm in that window, but availability of the 12 pro is pretty bad and it's not that painful in the grand scheme of life to warrant hunting one down haha. Regret, but not that big of a regret :)
Very cool,
I've been starting to use ARKit from a different angle.
Usecase - test out 3d designs of replacement classic car parts I'm manufacturing as a side project.
While crude right now, I think this sort of stuff is a game changer - I'm regretting not picking up a lidar enabled 12 pro instead of a 12 now to do better scanning and placement. I guess I'll pick up an ipad pro when it's upgrade time on that front.
Here are two quick videos I threw together:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K0-vK2wafA
Workflow:
- build 2d models in solvespace (https://solvespace.com)
- export dxf to fusion 360
- convert dxf to sheet metal
- bend sheet metal in fustion360
- export obj from fusion360
- save obj file to icloud drive
- open obj file in AR Viewer app (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ar-viewer-augmented-reality/id...)
Sidenote:
There still isn't a replacement for physically printing the parts before I have them laser cut out of metal. I 3d print models and test fit pieces as intermediate steps too.
Really excited to see ios developers digging into ARKit more, I'm excited to see what else is possible here.
Yep - this happened to a family member about 9 months ago.
Wasn't as straight forward as you might think to diagnose.
Based on my experience - most teams will get by with ivanhoe's list.
You additional items are definitely helpful - but the typical team member's workflow won't cross those bridges. Team leads perhaps.
There's definitely levels of proficiency, but for a junior or even mid-level dev doing feature work, I think there red flags if they are needing to jump into stash, cherry, etc on a daily basis.
Be it Keycloak, Gluu, FusionAuth - I’m in total agreement to pull user management out of your app - even if you are a keeping things as simple as a rails monolith.
The cognitive overload of having to align PM’s, ops, internal support, etc with a custom solution is worth any of the downsides.
If you’d sat through any sprint planning or architecture exercise in a sizable org for auth, these can be a magic wand.

Heard about this countless times. I’ve felt that pain before, but in a regulated environment where retool wasn’t an option at the time.
Internal tools at many orgs languish as not being sexy - I’ve always found them cool and an opportunity for building some good operation secret sauce.
Potential context: I think this was posted here because Microconf just sent out the 2021 survey to their email list.
Do you have a link to Muse? Can't find one that fits this general topic.
You can do this remotely.
If in a historic remote team or now, I still encourage this practice.
In total, after their fraudulent reinstatement, the products and merchants earned in excess of $100 million in sales revenue.
Woah. Was not expecting it to be that big.
More specifically, the Indictment alleges that the defendants served as consultants to so-called third-party (“3P”) sellers on the Amazon Marketplace.
Most companies have their employees sign onboarding documents or do an annual "business conduct" policy review. Any thoughts on a better way to manage something like this at scale? On one hand, I have a bad taste in my mouth from past employment situations that dictate "we own every though that enters your mind 24/7" - but consulting regarding your current employer, yikes.
I guess ethics aren't boolean to some.
Thanks! I had similar issues trying to jump into freecad to design a piece of sheet metal the other weekend for a classic car project. SolveSpace looks perfect.
My experience - primarily in healthcare data as a vendor... Employers & Insurance.
Client security teams have been very reasonable on deviations to their massive spreadsheet checklists.
On one hand, I think that if you, as a vendor, reply back with a few "well, we do X instead of Y in the same spirit" they will probably believe & trust your answers more than a spreadsheet returned in 2 hours with "yes/in compliance" for each question.
