Granted, one can circumvent a lot of nonsense on reddit by carefully selecting and managing subreddit subscriptions but in the end I find myself unsubscribing from more and more reddits over time.

Another thing to take into consideration is how prize money is awarded in track and field competitions: There is most of the times a separate amount of prize money awarded for breaking a world record as all hosts of competitions would love to see new world records set in "their" events. This prize money is often higher than the regular prize money for winning.

So for an athlete it makes kind of sense to try and set new world records in incremental steps in order to earn as much prize money as possible. It also might lead to more frontpage cover stories in the long run.

That being said, this might not 100% apply to Usain Bolt as he is already a popular figure contesting in a very popular discipline of track and fields but it might make sense for an athlete of a less popular discipline like Triple Jump.

I am really interested but not sure if it is for me. I currently do lots of Django work but due to contract reasons contribute little to Floss projects and I don't know a lot of other Django hackers personally. Also I would have to pay for myself. Hmmm.

Unfortunately it is 2010 and I still see many "print folder websites" being made with fixed aspect ratios and even the dreaded flash intros experience a second wind here lately. And designers with experience/focus on web application design are very rare. Always looking for them ;)

Well, I do not switch because my slice keeps being online and available for almost two years now. "Never change a running system" ;).

I do, however, also have a Linode VPS and will probably go with additional Linode VPS' in the future if the service continues to be stable.

In my humble opinion, Slicehost offered a great deal two years ago but they should adjust their plans in the future or customers will move to competitors.
