When we moved, my wife was looking for an electric scooter to get to the train station for a commute to work. When we considered the weight and practicality in bad weather, we found new Dacia Spring 2023 model for 14,000 € in sales. It's a game changer since we charge it exclusively at home for about 1 € per 200 km range. There is virtually no maintenance. Having a VW Passat diesel for longer trips, we cannot be happier.

VPN services are just someone else's computers. Any cloud provider with a low performance virtual machine can become a VPN gateway using Linux distribution of your choice for around $4.

OpenVPN or WireGuard are my tools of choice. Professionally, I also use OpenVPN's EasyRSA PKI framework for certificates, but you can just generate your keys using any tutorial out there. "OpenVPN Cookbook" ebook from Packt is my go to source. For performance reasons, WireGuard is better.

I'd like to point at CALL, a CPU instruction, and its origins. I'm not familiar with this, but it could reveal more than programming languages. The instruction is present at least since first intel microprocessors and microcontrollers were designed.

Physicist Sabine Hossenfelder on recent scientific publication, describing temperature rise about 5 deg. Celsius within 20 years.

Postfix, Dovecot and DNS with cheap Debian/Ubuntu LTS is all I needed to maintain all my email for about 10 years.

I also made a habit of creating an email alias per web service to keep credential leaks under control.

Edit: you messages should pass through any big email service if you implement DKIM, DMARC, etc. and make sure you are not an open relay.

As a former tech staff member at one European dating site, around year 2010 and originated in Germany, the numbers are much worse for paying customers. The numbers presented here are still overly optimistic. The company's owner at that time told me that they know of ONE couple that got married. They were in service for a few years already at the time. Their whole business model was investing about 100 thousand Euros monthly in ads and getting 300 thousand back.

Seems you're not alone.

Currently in my 40's, if that matters, I find it extremely hard to force the language processing part of my brain being turned off, while my ears are listening to spoken words and alerting me constantly about their meaning. It kicks me instantly out of my own context.

Had to quit my most recent job because vast majority of colleagues were talking to themselves loudly while solving their own assignments, and interrupting me from coding sessions too frequently to even enter into the flow. Even noise cancelling headphones I had at the time didn't help.

Therefore to me, not taking colleagues into account while having loud monologues I consider being either ignorant, low EQ, or simply rude.
