Because for the typical office - documents are strewn about on random network drives and are not formatted similarly. This combined with the inability to nail down 100% accuracy on even just internal doc search is just too much to overcome for non-tech industry offices. My office is mind blown if i use Gemini to extract data from a PDF and convert it to an .xlsx or .csv

As a technically minded person but not a comp sci guy, refining document search is like staring into a void and every option uses different (confusing) terminology. This makes it extra difficult for me to both do my regular job AND learn the multiple names/ways to do the exact same thing between platforms.

The only solution that has any reliability for me so far are Gemini instances where i upload only the files i wish to search and just keep it locked to a few questions per instance before it starts to hallucinate.

My attempt at RAG search implementation was a disaster that left me more confused than anything.

I notice this as well, i think it is because the autocorrect is turned off and we may just be so used to it learning our typing habits that our "raw" typing is really that bad

As someone who uses such software for a living, i concur. Hand drawings work just fine. Not to mention, any fabricator worth their salt will have no problem interpreting it.

I have a large collection of vintage Mac's and peripherals, with the largest quantity being the Apple Keyboard II [1]. Archive forums all suggest the Belkin ADB Adapter [2] but that has long since been retired. I would like to make my own, i know instructions exist for a raw passthrough.

As a beginner, I also haven't had much luck with embedded vector queries either. Firstly, setting it up was a major pain in the ass and I couldn't even get it to ingest anything beyond .txt files. Second, maybe it was my AI system prompt or the lack of outside search capabilities but unless i was very specific with my query the response was essentially "can't find what youre looking for"

Funny you mention stage manager, i remember the absolute online letdown/meltdown that happened when it didn't ship with the iPadOS version it was scheduled to. The other day i encountered the button for it and completely forgot it existed, but after launching it, I remembered how useless it is.

Wow yeah you just made me remember the Windows 10 mail app, which sure wasn't perfect but was ad-free and relatively snappy if I remember correctly. Then absolutely destroyed it and now I have to see Outlook 2016 and Outlook (new) as the results when I search "mail" from the taskbar

I follow 3d printing pretty close but can't claim to be an expert. With that said, I truly thought they served different consumer segments with the only overlap being those who bought a Prusa pre-assembled beleving it to be a one stop shop machine. Bambu is a black box from China for an end user with little knowledge or care of maintaining a machine themselves (down to printing replacement parts)
