I seem to recall this Rust rewrite is all "unsafe" meaning it really doesn't automatically eliminate those issues.

What even kind of response is this? The high profile ambassador invited the journalists to his event officially, presumably to BE JOURNALISTS.
The author made this exact joke in TFA.
I had a chuckle at the domain name, mikeoss.com
It's funny you said "shower-thinking" because showers are one of the few places where it's not practical to use a device and you really are alone with your thoughts. A normal day to day activity that is the same sort of "stare at walls" state that the OP describes.
Yeah we moved on from SVN to git because SVN branches were truly a pain in the ass to work with. I truly do not have any rough edges or big pains in my day to day git workflow.
Similar to sprites.dev?
I'll field this one as someone who has used regular ol' Vim for ~18 years and never switched. Why switch if your tool is working fine? I use vim literally every day all day long and it does everything I need it to do. Switching has a cost and there's no reason to pay it if it's working fine.
Because when it's true, you also learn about any prior match ups involving those two people.
It's always fun to open the front page of HN and see a familiar face. I went to college with this guy! Congrats on shipping Mahmoud!
Be careful, they add SLS to several versions of their products in the US.
I found out the hard way that my mouth really doesn't like having SLS in it because I bought the wrong version of Sensodyne once. The "Pronamel" version is the only one I'm sure doesn't have SLS.
Regular Sensodyne in other countries has novamin though, and does not have SLS. I've brought home a few tubes from traveling and it seems to work just as well as the US version - I don't get sensitivity back when using it.
Ugh this just makes me wonder how long it will be before we start seeing responses to AI chat like "please watch this 30s ad / drink a verification can to get your answer". I have to believe that ads are coming.
Seems like a comment comes up about XUL every few years and I can't help but be sniped by it. A xulrunner app was my first job out of college in '08, good memories, fun dev environment!
Love this book and immediately thought of the same section!
This reminds me of the old story about being able to capture just 1% of a market to create a successful startup and how you always have to remember, there are numbers less than 1.
Underrated joke, did not expect a Title Fight reference when I opened this thread!
I don't think this is their first live event. They have hosted a pro golf promotional match and they had a live pro tennis match between Nadal and Alcaraz off the top of my head.
Louder for the people in the back. I've had this notion for quite a long time that "tech debt" is just another way to say "this code does things in ways I don't like". This is so well said, thank you!
My daughter will be bummed about this news, though I'm glad at least a few are surviving. I don't get why they'd make this content and then just kill it. Is this like "we don't want to support the feature anymore" kind of thing? That doesn't really make sense though because they're leaving some around. Disappointing.
The new mac mini also has an M4 Pro that goes up to 64GB.
You can use US bank accounts and other institutions.
Recently found out that this is more and more difficult because most banks are requiring 2FA with a US phone number which is difficult to get if you don't live in the states.
If you actually want practical and safe self driving cars widely deployed
I can't speak for everyone in this thread but personally this sounds like a nightmare. If we're dreaming about possible future worlds that are better than what we have, I'd rather have less or no cars. Much cheaper to maintain, not hackable.
Snarky but possibly true reply: perhaps someone had AI ~write~ hallucinate this article for them.
Yes, please may I have some more of the unmitigated freedom to pay a ballooning portion of household income toward a depreciating asset; the absolute pleasure of having to buy government-mandated insurance; the utter relief of participating in one of the most dangerous daily activities; the free choice of being able to salt the earth with CO2 emissions and tire particulate matter; and who can forget the ~socialized~ capitalist federal- and state-built roadways that cities are going bankrupt trying to keep up with funding.
If we are comparing against cars though this is a no brainer. Cars and trucks are extremely hard on infrastructure while people and bikes are basically free. Go 3D!
So they can merge/not merge but they aren't allowed to talk/not talk? Just because I have an inbox doesn't mean I have to respond to everything that shows up in it.
Got this email as well. I'm honestly astounded. Does anyone have an estimate of what enterprise pricing looks like here?
My 7th grade science teacher (hi Mrs. Ericson!) had us make tetratetraflexagons in 1998 and I thought, literally until today, that she had made up that word. She also has us make science-themed dodecahedrons so I guess I should have been clued into the fact that she secretly loved geometry / topology.
Did we read the same article? That's literally the authors point. Arguing that it is defensible because it is legal is wrong.
