the point of having an e-ink reader (at least for me and anybody I know who actively use such device), is to read things, so keeping doomscrolling options is *not* an advantage..

For what reason? When I buy a hammer in hardware store, can smash all the windows of parked cars nearby..

Try toying with ideas & projects which give back agency to the user.

Read manifestos from Anytype [0] and Reticulum [1].

Contribute or implement something using GrapheneOS, Nix/NixOS, Immich, Tailscale/Headscale, Home Assistant, SQLite, BespokeSynth, OpenStreetMap, Organic Maps, Columba, FluffyChat.

Maybe run local LLM and integrate it with your workflows/lifeflows?

Hardcore is not dead. [2]

That of all the humans that have ever lived, the majority lived under some kind of autocracy, with the rest distributed among tribal bands, chiefdoms, failed states, and flawed democracies, and only something like 1% enjoyed free elections and the rule of law and civil liberties and minimal corruption, yet we endured and today that number is closer to 10%, and so if you find yourself outside that set, do not lose heart.

according to V-Dem Institute [0], 72% of population live in autocracies.. does it include the US nowadays?

The entire paradigm difference or "features" which you are lacking is exactly the way the providers want you to funnel you - compare Organic maps (using osm), which only allow you to browse and navigate, to gm or am, which will always prefer you to be served with opening hours and ads of their partners, then only show GO LEFT, WARM, WARMER, you're almost there, now CONSUME&BUY!

And come back to our app again if you need to get a taxi or buy a fare... cmon, sweet convenience!

Then to wake up in a reality where you forgot why north was showing on top of the screen, you prefer it to turn map orientation with your body movements and ofc whisper more dopamine inducing advices.

Me and my partner/friends travel with some privileges due to my work in air transport industry, so business class seats on trans-oceanic flights for 150$ or so

Still hate the experience in comparison to modern rail.

But security theatre is apparently necessary, see "golden age of hijacking" 1968-72: over 300 events in five years, that's a hijack a week!
