A pity that GrapheneOS works only on Pixel and those phones are trash for me (no microsd support). I have a 1.5 tb microsd card with all media/books and it is easy to move to another phone by just swapping the microsd card so this is one of the most important features for me.

I think this post has a lot of preconceptions about life. I bet it wouldn't be biological any more, even our society is moving to digital: AIs , drones. Even if it were, why support the whole body, if supporting the brain is enough? I bet future space space ships won't be piloted by humans because we are sensitive to acceleration, temperature, radiation and are pretty short lived. Also we don't have much redundancy and are not very energy efficent. Just look at the trend with mobile phones. At one point in time we used notes to extend our memory, then digital things like PDAs now phones and watches and at some point it will become an implant in our head, extending us as humans. The human of tomorrow will have little in common with human of today, so you can't judge the form of life will take and its requirementfrom a more advanced civilization.

I disagree, removing sanctions will make them stronger when the conflict comes. Also as I see it, all nations don't care much about people's suffering in some other country, they care most about their inner affairs, which is understandable geopolitically. Most of the people also don't care or else they would vote with their money. Are north koreans worth nuclear escalation - I don't think so.

I just had another thought about this: without violence - you cannot have peace. Sure, you can threaten violence if peace is not kept, but if you are not prepared to use violence to uphold your threat - your threat is useless. I think Putin is a great example for this. He showed us, that violence is actually a valid tool to achieve your goals nowadays. I mean sure I and people like me don't like violence but just because we don't, doesn't mean others somewhere else also don't and won't use it. We cannot avoid being confronted with violence at least at some points in society. We need to understand that it is also part of us and be able to deal with it or channel it. When I read the definition of violence I found on google: "behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something." Is there really any human who at least in some way didn't somehow use force to hurt someone, even as a kid? Don't we actually nurture application of violence in soldiers? I just have a feeling, that there is some insight here, that violence is not all that useless and maybe is a trait that made humans at least in part successful. OK, it make bring our downfall through nuclear war, but what other catastrophes wouldn't? We will fall down one way or another if we will not prepare. Also, what is a benchmark for success here? Is humanity that survived 300,000 years better than the one that survived 400,000 and who will be there to measure it?

It is not what I said. I meant violence is part of being Human. If you do not use it does not mean that you do not have it. It is not about blindly applying it. It is not only a negative thing, it is an evolutionary advantage versus species which is not violent. It is just another tool of enforcing you will over the will of others. For example some people have to obey the law because of a threat of violence of the state. I mean if you remove all our societal conditioning and learning, it all boils down to violence, like it was for first humans. I do not advocate violence, I think hating humanity for it is not rational. Clauzewitz said: "War is the continuation of policy with other means". So essentially violence is the continuation of policy when you can not achieve your goals by other means. This is just my view on it, take it or leave it.

Why hate yourself? Violence is a part that makes us human. Without it we are not human If we will not learn to control it, we will die. But in the end everything does. Also, being prepared is important. Si vis pacem, parabellum.

The problem is that an industry can be used as leverage by China to hurt the economy. See Putin and Gazprom, Tawianese Chips and so on. Globalization is good, because it makes production of consumer goods more cost effective. But cost alone is not worth much if the supply is not reliable and can be leveraged by a potential opponent.

Russia is a vassal state of china and shows the direction emperor Xi wants to go, but can't afford to. They wanted to show that dictatorships are more powerfull and efficent than democracy but even the market (inkl Mc. Donalds) showed that they aren't. I wonder if humanity will survive the next maybe indiect conflict with China...

I've got a Mac at work and I hate it with passion. I now use my own linux Laptop instead. There is no del key, no home, ctrl and alt are swapped in some aplications and not the others. Login screeen does not remember the language and animations come back after every update even when I explicitly disable them. Muscle memory from other 99% computers I use doesn't work and most of the games don't. I feel like mac os is in contempt of me and I really hate it when I have to use it for mandatory tasks. Mac doesnt fit for me at all, I use Linux for Production and Windows for games

Flying increases Cancer risk because of Cosmic Radiation. Solar Flares while flying are extremely dangerous.

It depends on what you are watching. I like Asian and European cinema and shows. For me most of American/Hollywood stuff is third rate junk, including Marvel and american Comics stuff and in seldom occasions I want to watch it, I get it easier from VPN/P*bay than to subscribe to a lot of different services. If they will make me jump through hoops, I will return to the VPN/P. method.

China didn't eliminate poverty, Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-k_ed7D7Dw

China doesn't have a big middle class. Education in China does not produce a lot of creative people. China government can disappear any Billionaire or Actor or any influential person. Such regime will always be less effective, less creative. Solution to the Problem: remove trade advantages for china, add sanctions and wait while it degrades to the state Russia is now. If you cut them from the global markets, China will crumble. China is all about "face", to the determent of everything else and is the reason for a global Corona outbreak. I believe the author has too good opinion on them, they just lie a lot. Sure a lot of the products are assembled in china, but not created. As I look around my desk, I don't see anything beside mobile phone that was engineered in China. As a matter of fact I prefer to buy locally engineered German stuff even if it costs a bit more, because I have a better quality and after sale support than with any Chinese Product. I hate dealing with Chinese Traders after a sale and I started to pay more for European products, even if they cost more. The west and others can relocate supply chains and that would be the end of it.

I disagree. I think this could only happen in a place where they don't value human life and have a concept of "face" that is more important than people's lives, and where they don't give a flying f. about people in other countries. They also have CCP party members talking officially about how great it is that so many westerners died: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI2_Qz_kdRY

If CCP handled the Virus at the start of it quickly and not lied to the last minute, then the virus would have been contained. I think China's CCP is very much responsible for a lot of dead people all over the world, but I understand that not everyone shares this opinion. I mean on the other hand the west didn't take this seriously and the good thing is that the virus is not that deadly and we hopefully be ready for the next one. As a foreigner I see: 9/11 in USA -> USA invades Afganistan. Wuhan Virus -> USA doesn't seem to care, even if more people died, some even don't believe it exists(please fix your education system) I mean as a CCP member I would think: ok now lets make another virus with long incubation and more deadly and let it loose somewhere in the western country or in Taiwan and then we invite ourselves there as a peace protectors...

I think we have to make Chinese people care about their government and we can do it buy using Sanctions so that CCP will lose money and chinese people will stop spewing nationalistic bullshit start caring about economy and by extension how the government does things.

Looks like China unintentionally found a way to damage the west pretty good. I wounder what will happen with the next Virus for the far east. I wounder if we will we learn from this and what long term changes our society will keep. It amazes me that many people wait for COVID to end, but don't understand, that it will never go away completely.

I would give out handles and have a Guard Object, that allows you to get smart pointers from handles as long as Guard Object is in scope. Then when Guard Object is out of scope, the smart pointers would get invalidated.

I think a lot of misra rules are bullshit and not account for improvements in computer science.

- goto is useful for error handling and when you have to double break

- function pointers are useful and easy to read state machines and also for functional programming, which is sometimes easier to comprehend and produces better patterns

- "Restrict functions to a single printed page." in my experience does not work. I would rather partition functions by topic or by level of "zoom"/abstraction

- "Use a minimum of two runtime assertions per function." that doesn't really say anything useful imho. Use as much as experience tells you too.

I agree with the rest

The Russians already invaded Ukraine and tried to subvert Belarus. As a Russian expat I am pretty sure they wont invade NATO because every high ranking Russian official has Millions/Billions of dollars in Cayman Islands and a vast portfolio of real estate in the west. Most of their children also live in the west. Also if they invade, then no one will buy their oil and gas and they will go bust as Soviet Union did before and they understand this fact very well. Russia Government as of now is not an Empire like the Soviet Union, but is an organized crime group and should be treated as such.

I think if you are programming in a native language programming language, there is a problem, that you can not find enough help and you don't have things like stackoverflow. You don't immediately see useful patterns and answers to questions and the effectiveness of the language and of your understanding is reduced. Unless you have a personal teacher, I think, learning a native programming language is not a good idea, because you will be limiting yourself, you will learn wrong patterns. You will not be standing on the shoulders of (many)others before you and the quality of your understanding will be not as good. I also think a lot of skill comes from cross language disciplines, and limiting yourself to one native langue is not a good idea. Better to invest time and learn english subset used in programming. Then you can read interesting code of others, which was reviewed by more eyes than your native programming language.

None. Those are private companies that do this. It's the same in Germany. I have a 7 euros/month unlimited calls cell plan but only 500 mb data, which is enough for me. I pay around 25 Euros month for Internet at home. It's fast enough for Steam/Streaming, I don't even know the speed because I stopped caring a while ago.
