Both Laravel and Django use Active Record, great for CRUD but I have yet to see a project where it worked with more complex domains.

Great for simple CRUD apps but it falls apart with more complex enterprise requirements.

I'm from Switzerland / Swiss German and maybe we just watched way more WW2 docs in high school and had more exposure to the various ways a Nazi salute can be done, but across the German speaking sphere we all saw this as a Nazi salute. In this variation it was often done with hand on breast during "Sieg!" and then the extension with "Heil!".

You are not allowing a broader discussion on this by having it flagged. I asked you how a discussion on ethics and symbolism doesn't fall under "intellectual curiosity" in a other reply. It's difficult to not come to the conclusion that you support Elon Musk and approve of his behavior. Calling it "celebrity trolling" is the cherry on top.

Yes, and while a little bit better, I think it's still quite bad.

Given the number of poor product managers and product owners I've encountered in my career - those who don't seem to care at all about end users or people in general - I'm surprised incidents like this don't happen more frequently.

I mean there is a clear difference in how ORMs that use the data mapper pattern like Hibernate or Entity Framework etc. ultimately allow for a cleaner overall application architecture vis-a-vis ActiveRecord (the pattern) which usually ends up leaking throughout the entire application.

I have yet to see a software project where ActiveRecordish ORMs did not end up making the modelling of business processes and translation of use cases into code overly messy and complicated, Rails or Django.

It's a tangent but I think two white collar workers being able to afford this and having this lifestyle is why Trump won.

There indeed is complexity, but a lot of the projects that are created to deal with that complexity that gain traction are made by people who don't have much experience in general, or lack exposure to non-frontend programming, so you end up having to deal with a lot of half-baked stuff. It's kind of a lethal cocktail.

My theory, which is kind of informed by what I saw it play out in my company: The reason is a psychological one. Most leaders derive their power from in-person interactions. Remote and video calls severely impact that. Those leaders also love having an audience that needs to listen to them whenever they are in the room and the lack of that kind of feedback and adulation shellshocked a lot of them.
