The quest 3 is almost 7 times cheaper than the vision pro (499 vs 3499) and provides incredible value for the price. I doubt very many people are actually going to buy the initial release of the vision pro, who is paying almost 4k after tax for a devkit besides developers and rich enthusiasts?

If you can make a plan to solve a technical problem and execute on it in a successful way you're an engineer. There may be differing levels of expertise and "rigor" but we should be more generous with the title if anything. There are a lot of extremely talented "non-technical" people out there building wild solutions with excel/zapier/etc... that deliver value and contain a ton of technical complexity but are very hacky and brittle, but at the end of the day it's still engineering.

You don't even have to do any of this, you can compile for windows and use the SDK (once you've enabled developer mode in the steam deck settings and paired) (https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/steamdeck/loadgames) to add your packaged game as a new title. I've compiled and tested games from unreal 4 and Godot 3.something without issue using proton. Using the SDK vs ssh is really nice since it shows up in Steam automatically and updating is easy (just redeploy via the SDK). Be warned the SDK is windows only.

This blog post is way more complex than it needs to be, a lot of what most people are doing with llms right now boils down to using vector databases to provide the "best" info/examples to your prompt. This is a slick marketing page but im not sure what they think they're providing beyond that.

Seriously, we're talking about a company that Microsoft invested 10 billion dollars into, this is very powerful technology that will affect our lives. They didn't invest all that money because it will make the world a better place, they did so because they see the opportunity to make a LOT of money and have the ability to steer where this technology goes while also reducing transparency. Why shouldn't we view that with suspicion, you don't have to roll over just because there's a lot of money involved or because some millionaire/billionaire might get treated "unfairly".

"heckling should not enjoy freedom of speech" exactly, this is just the marketplace of ideas deciding that the speaker is either bringing nothing of value to the table or that his reputation for previous speech is too poor. The idea that a Federal Judge is somehow having his free speech rights violated by a bunch of college students is insane, the man has argued before the SCOTUS and has a lifetime appointment which allows him to affect the lives of millions of Americans. It's becoming increasingly clear that "Free Speech" is just the idea that the powerful speak and the commoners listen.

`And possibly start using chemicals to alter your bone density and muscle mass.` Just when you think you've seen some depraved/inhumane takes you see someone suggest that actually this homeless person deserves to be where they are because they're not risking enough of their health by taking hgh/ped to get a meager paycheck as a bouncer at a bar where they could very well get stabbed or shot providing security for a bunch of tech workers that hate their guts.

` If you just half ass it and complain that the world is against you, you will not go anywhere` This man is homeless what are you talking about?

Everyone should be a cold emotionless machine that pumps out code, just like me.

`Sometimes market liberalization and conservative thinking does not go hand in hand. ` I would say it never has, but that the market liberalization and social conservative wings of the larger conservative party had an uneasy truce and their ultimate goals were always in conflict. Looking at the current conservative movement in the US and how they're pushing back against capital for being "too woke" (whatever that means) it's clear (at least to me) that the market liberalization wing lost a lot of power and doesn't seem to have too much pull anymore.
