May I ask what is the proper way to store Terraform state. We are currently testing out Terraform at my job and it just uses a s3 bucket with exception turned on. Thanks
Not at the moment but I think that's the company plan. As for any company wide changes.. Yes for Frontend I have. It was the introduction and process/flow of using Storybook for our projects. This was about a 1.5yrs ago and we have been using it on projects ever since. The next was standardizing our web projects on using Next.js. This included creating the infrastructure and flow to deploy within AWS. Nothing really on best practices for structuring/building components, atleast not company wide mostly just within my own teams.
Some other things that I started to put in place that have been spread out to other teams where the whole Dev review/QA loop (PR, branching structure, commit writing/linting etc)
Funny enough I ran into this exact use case recently. We have a marketing site for a client done with webflow..But we needed to add a third party widget that only had an react library. So I ended up creating a CRA project so that I could include the bundled file and render the component as needed using the same setup (it was a modal + some purchase logic). Added some bare js hooks to trigger some of the logic via a button press. Worked well actually
The Mac address part stood out to me, has something changed over the year that made changing Mac addresses more complex?
Back in college our school had some limitations on the internal networks in our dorms. After doing my normal stuff (you know mega downloading,ftp, limewire etc) my net stopped working. Come to find out they had a bandwidth monitor and would just block you for some time if you used too much and had to contact tech support, even for simple things like window updates.
Anyways, somehow I found out I could tweak some net configs in the registry. So here I randomly change some dword value to change my Mac address. I finally got back online and just forgot about it.
A few days later I came back to my room after classes, my roommate told me the school officers raided the room trying to get on my PC. I went to the student dean's office and come to find out I took net access from I think the president and they tracked it to my PC ... Some luck I say lol .. Tech support said that there was no possible way I could change my Mac address after a bit back and forth I decided to just agree with him.
O yeah and they had like a 200-300 page printout of irc chatlogs ,there was more stuff but I'll end it there.
Needless to say my net access was blocked for a year even tho I had a work study job with the webdev department. It didn't stop me though, I ended up running a long cat5 cable from the dorm next door. Fun times.

Yeah we have a few components we are using across projects and are going to start expanding that out throughout our stack.
We have been evaluating how to scale our company (software agency) to be able to quickly build out mvps for some of our projects. The topic of no-code has come up and the one product named Unqork[1] has been mentioned to us. Has anyone had success with these solutions, if so what type of projects have this no-code paradigm excelled at?
I assume this is what the SonosTube[1] app does. It's pretty nice

Went to the highschool right next to them. We all thought the same, that the area would be a hub for Tech. Sadly nothing every came from it.
In these cases wouldn't it have been to work on it slowly as a "side project" outside of the team normal priorities? I always tell my team if they can fit it in and not hinder the current sprint by all means go ahead and do it on the side.
I know this goes against the normal and people want to attach "right now " value (hours it took reflected on check) but going beyond the call can also give you leverage when your yearly review comes up for example.
Now if only someone can fix the bug with ShadowPlay that records your screen in the wrong aspect ratio event though you tell it to output in 1080p and play in 1080p with dual monitor
You install adb from Google and run one command. That's how you unlock a bootloader.
As for root, yes you have to install something which is Magisk which is open source and vetted and had been around for around 5+ years.
My wife that has never done it just did it for her new pixel 4a a few weeks ago. All I did was direct her to a step my step tutorial (I vetted the tutorial) and she did it flawlessly.
Rethinkdb, still wear my t-shirt from them for creating the the Scala library[1]. Learned so much on that project. Fun times

I remember in college they had some data cap on our dorm internet. Just getting a Windows update could block you out for a while or completely. Well I got tired of it and for some reason looked up how to change my Mac address. I'm not sure how I figured it out but I realized that changing my Mac address would regain me access..
What I didn't know is that I would pick a random address that would knock off one of the higher ups net. Let me tell you, they did not like that one bit.
I came back one day to my room mate saying that they raided my room trying to get into my pc. I ended up walking into the Dean's office of student Life and ended up explaining how I got back online. The head of IT didn't believe me saying you couldn't change your IP by changing your Mac address let alone that changing your Mac address was even possible. I didn't even bother trying to prove it. Mind you they also printed out like 200 pages of IRC logs.. I kept that open all day while in class so who knows what it captured.
In the end I got the Kevin Mitnick treatment and they prevented me from using my dorm net as well as any campus PC. I just got a long cat 5 cable and ran it into the other room. What was odd was they were ok with letting me do my work study which gave me access to the school website. I guess they rather let me do that then fool around with other stuff.
Fun times.
Can someone explain why the chrome browser simulator is so bad. I recently had to do some web work, normally don't deal with HTML . Anyways I tried to use the emulate view to test against iOS devices. Had QA test on a real device and it was all wrong. Ended up just getting a virtualbox of osx up to run the stimulator.
Normally it isn't a problem using it but trying to line up slanted designs with pixel perfect placement wasnt working out at all.
Yeah that seems to be the common theme, "Ask friends and coworkers" I guess I need to do a bit more networking at meetups at such. Its been word of mouth from previous clients for all these years so I never bother to reach out to build a network.
How would you even go by looking people to do this? Especially someone familiar with the tech field for example? "hiring manager technology" doesn't return the best results in trying to find someone.
I guess so, but in one instance I had 2 video interviews in one day with a total of 4 devs( all of the devs of the team). So it seems like it was both a tech interview (which I answered all their questions and was impressed) and then a "culture" test.
Thru take home test passing, inital 2 calls with people then video calls afterwards just to fail just seems odd but maybe I'm overthinking it. Local interviews havn't been well either. They tend to fall apart in the second call (not video). Seems like most people dont do in-shop interview but all over the net now.
I was just going to post something along this line.. I've been to the 3-4th stage many times it it all falls when I have to do a video call.. every time ( about 25 interviews so far over the course of 4months). At this point I'm starting to think its more of a "culture" fit then anything else which I really dont like to think about. All of these are remote jobs which is odd cause they dont even have to see me or know my race. Even tried to apply to local jobs, no luck.
But after having pass tech tests, multiple calls and had people very impress about my 10year career its hard to see anything else then the word "culture" in these instances.

wow times have changed from using softice and ollydbg. When I used to RE for fun it was sad seeing how expensive programs could just be rigged by a simple NOP or JNZ/JMP change.
My best challenge was Brazil (3ds render engine). It had all types of checks that would only show up when rendering.. But that was no match.. Good times

One thing I learned about working with postgres and time is that the timezone is based on the timezone of the connecting sever and not actual sever. I can't tell you how long it took me to debug code due to my workstation being at cst but severs in est and then storing dates as utc. Bundle that with caculating upcoming birthdays within 15-30 days before and leap years.
Yeah I didn't like it one bit. Sorta reminds me when I had to develop a Grantt chart component in flex for a client, so many problems with dates.

I recently tried for the second time to apply to some agency type place. I have 10yrs of coding, worked with big data, have done micro coding( developed protocols for vending machine transactions), done frontend and backend small and large scale.
But this place had 3 of these type of challenges that you had 1hr 30mins to complete all of them. I'm sorry, most of this stuff you will NOT find in any job unless its some specialty. For an backend/angular/react developer you will not find this at all. I feel that companies that do this are out of touch with the correct way to find candidates. But on the second hand I also see why they do this since programming has became so much popular now a days.
