I think this is a misleading title. Journalism as a profession shot up the last couple of years due to internet and media so the count should be normalized. What ratio of journalists are persecuted compared to total number of journalists out there?

Full Story: Five years ago as I was learning to code, I was frustrated about not knowing the whole journey. Recently I decided to revisit this problem and to solve this, I decided to build a web app where you can create and share learning roadmaps, and beginners can explore roadmaps based on careers and programming languages. The aim of this project is not to give a single roadmap to anyone as a prescription that promises a career if you do X, Y and Z, but merely an exploratory platform that can be used as a source of inspiration if you get stuck because no tech career path is the same. I managed to get over 50 learning roadmaps on a variety of careers and programming languages. It's built with golang and nextjs and use postgres as a database. I'd love your feedback and your criticism!

By deep tech, I mean getting to solve complex challenges through technology. It could be solving problems using machine learning, or a hardware product that's genuinely useful. I believe we're going to see a rise in hardware technology soon. After being in the phase of building a product to get upvotes on ProductHunt, I was trying to capture the essence of being an inventor by following a prescribed recipe, which wasn't satisfying. I ended up moving to a more business role and it's much better this way but we're barely building anything.

I'd like to play a role of an inventor and a builder of crazy technologies. Imagine https://www.noya.co/ or https://frame.work/. My only concern is that not being from a research background or a first world country could hinder my chance of doing that. Hope that made sense.

Even though the article captures a good amount of truth about the lifestyle, the dinner pricing might need a bit of context. The top 5% of the restaurants might cost more than a hundred bucks for two people but that should be expected from the high-end four star and five star restaurants. I'm an Indian engineer who earns in USD, and even if I'm picky, my per meal is always between $3 - $5. Even if I'm going for keto or specialised meals, it never goes beyond $10.

From my observations, there are communities which has strict moderation policies, but sometimes they do allow posts if the incentives are right. That's why I mention writing an essay instead of posting a link. I feel like if it's a well known pain-point and the community is aware about it, and you outline why your motivation for solving it, it will resonate. Instead of promotion, you're posting your story.

Again, this strategy could fail too, but I've always noticed if you take one topic, there are multiple subreddits that address it, so you'll have luck in at least one of them. What market is your product targeting?

Why do you think GCP is worse than AWS? I've used GCP and found it quite easy to start with and the managed instances was a breeze to set up and deploy stuff. I've done it for only small businesses and they were happy with the results too and the easy to use console made things easier to navigate. Maybe the trouble with GCP comes with scale?

Damn, as someone who has been working on a side-project for the past 7 months and have been releasing it through the past one month, this resonated with me a lot. I actually work part time for a company which treats me really well and appreciates my inputs and I have very constraints when working there and they encourage the things I come up with.

Recently I've been thinking about fundraising but I haven't figured out a monetisation strategy yet so I've been pondering about it. But I work 4 hours a day on my side-project and I read your article and had the epiphany that I can work part-time on this till I figure out monetisation on my side-project. I really like Google Cloud. I use docker and deploy it on cloud-run which works like a charm since it auto-scales and I never had any problems with it. I also find Google Cloud environment easier to work with than AWS. I've never tried Azure so I cannot judge.
