that's an excellent verifiable test! I've been struggling to articulate the behavior too, advertisements and slanted search results have effectively gotten in-between my information retrieval and being steered to products and services. we haven't done an experiment like that but I've had family know what medium certain topics were expressed and discussed over and those topics that landed in the ads that startled with their topic intersection were topics discussed only verbally vs typed into some search field or connected to some other web interaction etc.

That's kind of the smoking gun when you can create a disjoint set of topics and a disjoint set of mediums of communication delivery and see what shows up in the ad space from those discussion topics strictly expressed verbally.

yah that may be worth turning on that feature or altering the debug trace during a debug session to see what line comes up, not a bad suggestion. We turn off line traces in general so that the debug logs can be diffed after stripping off variant fields in the log records like object addresses and timestamps. While a project is in development the log line numbers would add a lot of diff noise.
