Taiyaki Studios | React Native | Tokyo | On-site Full Time | Will Sponsor Visa

We’re creating animated dramas from Webtoons/Manga and releasing them on our own app/webapp.

This role will primarily focus on building the mobile and web platforms for delivering our shows, but as a small team of 4 we all wear many hats and are exploring creating interactive content as well.

We license finished shows and webtoons, and build tools to produce original content in-house.

Ideal candidate: We value fast learners who are language agnostic.

Bonus: Python, ComfyUI experience.

Japanese proficiency not required, though nice to have. We’ll pay for weekly lessons if you want them.

If you need visa sponsorship, you’ll need a bachelor’s or 10 years experience. Not our requirement, gov’t requirement. We’ll help with all relocation logistics.

We pay 20M JPY/yr (~$140k/yr) + equity, 3-4X median salary in Tokyo, you’ll live in luxury or save a good chunk of your salary.

What have you shipped, tinkered with, or hacked together? Let us know: careers@taiyakistudios.com

Taiyaki Studios | Anime Pipeline Engineer | Tokyo | On-site Full Time | Will Sponsor Visa

We’re building new pipelines for anime production. Join us and empower animators to focus on the fulfilling stuff - story, character design, art direction, cinematography - and take the grunt work off their plate.

Our tools are being used to produce original content in-house, so you’ll get to work directly with animators and help make anime!

Ideal candidate: nimble problem solver, comfortable learning how to build tools that integrate with existing industry-standard software, even if you’ve never used said software before. We value fast learners who are language agnostic.

Bonus: Python, ComfyUI experience.

Japanese proficiency not required, though nice to have. We’ll pay for weekly lessons if you want them.

At the risk of being too self promotional.. you’re describing what we’ve done at Make School. An accredited 4 year bachelors condensed into 2 years of intense study, primary focus is project-based CS but we have a robust general education component as well.

As another commenter points out, the prototypical 4 year degree (which many in the US actually complete in 4-6 years) is a fairly American phenomenon. There’s plenty of precedent elsewhere for college as 2-3 years of rigorous study.

Hey Austen - we should meet!

We have a 4 term sequence of CS courses that cover most if not all the topics listed on your curriculum page. These topics are also touched upon and put to practice in our mobile, web, and to some extent our data science courses.

It's only our Summer Academy which caters to students enrolled at others schools on summer vacation which focuses on app or VR development.

Hackathon Be Gone 10 years ago

Love this. We once hosted a Shipathon - same concept, want to do more. Excited to read your doc and compare notes!

I remember the very day that PG, Khaled, and James sat down in 2012 and defined the future of Tilt. Amazingly exciting to see how it's grown since. I love that the nicest founders in our batch are doing the best :)

I think the idea is that 10 grams of sugar for example may get broken down by person A in such a way as to generate 40 calories whereas person B might only generate 30. No violation of the laws of thermodynamics there.

I used the hour of code version of light-bot on the first day of a 5 day intensive programming course for 11-14 year olds to get them exposed to programming concepts. It worked great - we graduated from it to other content after a few hours with it but it was a great introduction to programming for the kids.

There absolutely are! Note that most companies will be hiring Objective-C devs for many more years since existing code bases are not going anywhere and it's still unclear how much adoption Swift will get amongst non-hobbyists.

Hello, Stranger 12 years ago

I hear this all the time, yet when I was in Denmark and Iceland I found that folks never seemed to be weirded out if I started a conversation with them (when ordering food, waiting for a bus, or out in a bar for example) in fact they'd often happily chat and even sometimes invite me along to where they were going next if they were out partying/drinking. Danes and Icelanders struck me as an incredibly friendly bunch. I've even had several people strike up conversations with me in both countries.

That being said when I was in Copenhagen I did notice that this openness didn't seem to be nearly as present amongst the Swedes who came over from Malmö. Come to think of it during my travels in Denmark and Iceland the only time Finns or Swedes ever struck up conversation with me was when they were drunk.

"The whole country just gave a shitload of money for nothing to university administrators and contractors."

Probably not. It is entirely possible that the shitload of money did improve standards of education and did benefit students, just not proportionally to the actual amount of money spent.
