While it's a tad low to do this without any acknowledgment, this stuff happens all the time. Particularly with commercials. At least he has re-released his master and can monetize this way. This controversy will probably earn him more money than had it just been a 2 second blip in the credits.

The Job

We’re looking for someone to join our small team as a full time backend developer, ideally with a passion for music. Songtrust is a technology driven business and we’re focused on bringing new ideas to an old and broken industry.

Some things we use: Python / Django, AWS(ec2) + Heroku(PostgreSQL) + Rightscale, Git, JIRA, and whatever works best.

We are looking for someone with a couple of years under their belt that has put at least one significant django project into production.

A few months ago we launched a service called http://Songtrust.com, we are helping bring music publishing to songwriters of all levels. Our aim is to be as songwriter friendly as possible, we only charge a subscription and we do not take any % of royalties. We also let our songwriters opt out of the 'deal' with us at any time. That way if a traditional publisher comes knocking with a big advance check(which often is just a really bad bank loan at usurious rates - another one of the reasons publishing gets such a bad rap) or if a publisher with Sync expertise in your genre offers to better exploit (which is the technical term) your music. We also offer sync opportunities through a partnership with dms.fm on a non-exclusive basis (meaning our customers can go shop their syncs other places)

We help songwriters get affiliated with a PRO(like ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC), register all their songs and help them collect their royalties just like any other publisher. We also register their songs with The Harry Fox Agency(HFA) which will be collecting mechanicals from record sales and also from Youtube and Spotify. All of this you could do yourself but it's a huge pain in the neck involving a lot of paperwork and a ton of time. We like to think of it like having a professional do your taxes for you.

I bought a 13" max spec air right after the new Pro came out, really happy with it thus far. I will say it's not as much of a desktop replacement as the pro might be but it gets the job done. The higher resolution is very noticeable when you step down to 1280.

Zooming in is awesome. Default map view is a little weird. Slider could be a tad more responsive.(could be chrome) Overall much better than your last version.

This all sounds like good advice. I've been using f.lux lately and it seems to help.

I've been east for about 6 years and this is the closest I've gotten to good Mexican food. It is start up friendly[Read:cheap] and amazing- no burritos though last I checked.

This post would have made much more sense had it been written in 2007. Three years have past and the community has grown. His arguments are based on anecdotes and outliers from a bygone era. He fails to mention that yea there are a ton of hedge funds in nyc - you can start one in your basement with about a million bucks.

It would have been worth mentioning that NYC seed is a public private partnership that includes a mentoring program and that there are hundreds of millions(if not billions) of dry powder in vc funds here that are just about ready to start investing heavily again.

The Seidenberg School of Computer Science at Pace University has a growing population of web-minded hackers and entrepreneurs. A few years ago Ivan Seidenberg(CEO Verizon) established a scholars program for top computer science students that provides nearly a full ride, free laptop, subsidized research projects, meetings with proven entrepreneurs, and internship opportunities.

Essentially if you are considering NYC and don't want to graduate with nearly 100k in loans(which is likely at NYU/Columbia), want small class sizes and a chance to work with a tight nit group of hackers Pace is a good bet.
