I have a theory that swearing actually results is less comprehension of instructions by the model due to lack of training data over more conventional MUST.
We were reviewing reports of situations where the models failed to follow directions and there was a common thread of some where when the operator got the model to acknowledge the rule breach, it quoted back something that included swearing.
I don’t have the data to truely look into it, but I did give the instruction to my engineers to avoid it as a “might be a problem”.

The value in z series is in the system design and ecosystem, IBM could engineer an architecture migration to custom CPUs based on ARM cores. They would still be mainframe processors, but likely able to be able to reduce investment in silicon and supporting software.

Generally you don't put those skills in a Junior PD, but you would expect a Junior to take on these tasks if they hope to progress. The Mid level PD would have it listed and as the junior shows they can meet each and every additional skill, the option of a promotion becomes available.

My understanding is that they were tracking significantly fewer parts in Excel as many of what they are now tracking as separate parts were previously tracked as a single part (kind of an assembly). I think they were previously tracking somewhere in the 100-200 parts in Excel.
My understanding for why this is coming out now is that there was a talk Vowles has done recently where he mentioned the massive hit getting ready for this season because they changed both Excel into the new ERP systems AND started tracking each individual part, which complicated the transition and why it was such a rush for Williams to be ready for this year.

Yes, we have a single tickets repo seperate from the code, and use GitHub projects collect tickets from multiple repos into one board.
Team of 8 devs + other supporting roles. Devs are happy with it, PM and portfolio management not so much, as you loose a lot and GitHub projects is still fairly new.
Why did we do this? We were acquired and the new corporate has different ideas and we lost Jira. Project managers end up manually syncing status of epic tickets between GitHub and their project management tools. We make it work, but much more labour intensive the Jira+Jira Portfolio

High performance datacenter cores will likely remain a niche for the best chip design companies. Architecture mostly matters in that your workload / ecosystem is supported. I can't see this being a place where an open source RISC-V core wins.
Even if you had the complete plans to a top of the range EPYC processor, you would struggle to Fab it, and by the time you were able to do so, it would likely not be valuable.
The problem is DC CPUs are driven by power efficiency. Building the most efficient processors requires the latest manufacturing nodes and incredible optimisation. Generally your chips must be within the last 1-3 generations, the inefficiencies are very noticeable. Power efficiency impacts cooling and density, additionally driving the economics of DCs.
The existing manufacturers have the teams to churn these out, for someone else to join the club it would be a massive investment (just look at home many failed Server Arm companies there have been). You can also see that even companies that have ARM server chips are mostly just tweaking cores provided from ARM, not developing their own from scratch.
Given this I think your unlikely to see this unless the economics change. If one of the cloud giants decided that they aren't getting value with ARM, they might end up developing their own, potentially even using RISC-V as the architecture, but I can't imagine them wanting to share it. Unless you end up with a multi-cloud consortium deciding that its in all their interests to build a common processor in order to turn it into a commodity. In that case you might get an open source core out of it, but the fab problems still remain.
For consumers in some jurisdictions they may be able to get refunds on the product if it can be argued that this feature was a core reason the application was purchased.
However once you are a business many of those protections aren’t present. There is an assumption that businesses should be able to sort things out amongst themselves and the court system. However an SME barely has any more power then a consumer going against a giant like Autodesk.
I wonder if the solution wouldn’t be to extend those protections to smaller businesses, and additionally allow reclaiming the cost of any investments in the platform (Training, etc) and other expenses. Your not telling autodesk what they can do with their product, but if they are selling it based on features they are removing, they will be liable to make right anyone who purchased on that basis.
If this has sufficient range, I could imagine it being a no brainer for a lot of businesses that have to stand up quickly (Resources, Warehousing, Tourism). This would give massive flexibility to stand up a new location. The real question is range, and home much this is affected by your neighbours. I imagine in urban areas range will be much smaller then what would be possible on a mine site for instance.
Combined with a Starlink system, you could deploy a single central point and have sufficient capability to cover an entire campus. While not well supported currently (60 day minimum hire), I could imagine it would be a massive boon to those who setup music festivals and other outdoor events. 150mbps is perfectly fine to run POS transactions and basic coms.
bhyve (a lightweight virtualization tech) vs kvm (really kvm/qemu) isn't really a like for like fight. If your looking for something lightweight on the linux side you would go with Firecracker (AWS developed for Lambda and Fargate).
It makes we wonder if something like the Australia-Asia power link would make sense. 2.2GW would be enough to cover current Gas, Coal and Diesel generation for NZ. Freeform isn't really a competitor to Miro. Miro is able to do higher order stuff (it was used as a Visio replacement in my previous org). Microsoft has a similar product to Freeform called "Whiteboard". Its no where near as slick, but its free with Office 365. If Miro can survive that they can survive Apple's version. Especially since Apple's version isn't going to work on anyone with a PC.
1Password has made a business out of adding what apple doesn't provide and integrating what they do. They will likely retain a niche providing the "Legacy" password support, cross platform, and other areas Apple don't care about.
For the finance tools, basically apple will always be niche if they don't expand to PC / Android. They are currently operating as a middle man, leaving the true banking up to other financial institutions. I wonder how much they are going to be able to make out of this before they are either forced out, or have to take on more of the actual financial operations and how the current company could handle becoming that company if they needed to.
Not to mention a CEO who is more interested in activities outside the company like the green energy transition and politics.
As an Aussie I always wanted Atlassian to succeed as we have so few tech companies at that scale or larger. Now I view them as another Oracle. Now they innovate little, they keep ratchetting up prices, pushing deployments to cloud where they make more money. Nickel and dime you for what should be core features (SAML Auth?). They aren't coming up with anything new to keep the value in the ecosystem. They buy applications in, spend a little to make some cross integration and then drop down to a slower development Cadence.

No, but if you read the original article, it describes the policies by companies. Obviously a company has many different type of roles, however when you describe office workers, comparatively there are a significant proportion who work for organizations in industries that are not represented. Retail companies have huge office staff to organize new products, marketing, purchasing, logistics and finance. Should they not count because the company also runs a supermarket or boutique?
I was simply saying that the figures may be overrepresented. The original title when I posted heavily focused on the 7.2% of companies who say they will force 100% in office. That number seems very low to me and looking through the data I noticed that the sample doesn't represent many of the largest employers in the country. The new title rectifies that.
The companies behind the supermarkets have large back office complexes. The size of the back office tends to be proportional to the turnover of the companies. I’m Australia retail and primary industries make a substantial proportion of that.
