Once you have a starter, keep feeding it with organic rye grain flour, you might need to try different brands. Bake in a cast iron pot, with lid initially, the crust will be unreal.
Late reply… Self taught. YouTube has a ton of resources (recommend Pianote and Matthew Cawood). Learn some music theory basics, if you have the time study sheet music, you will understand what you are doing on a deeper level. I found it motivating to not only play simple pieces in the beginning but also harder ones that you enjoy listening to. They will be reallly hard initially but you will improve!
Under $100: A second hand piano for $80. Learning an instrument is a deeply satisfying experience if you stick to it (as well as frustrating and confusing). Literally no end to how much you can learn. It has given me hours of “in the zone” moments, so well needed in a stressful world. I also see (hear?) music in a different light and can understand it better.

I recently dusted off piles of CDs from my wardrobe to put up for sale. Was really chocked that they go for around €30-50 each, one sold for €90! It is mostly semi rare electronic music from the 90s so I would not expect the same from pop/rock. But do check out your old CDs laying around, could be worth quite a bit
OSM has the potential to be the open, available source of truth for so much of our data. From there, we can simply build curated UIs that displays what we need (keep in mind that OSM is not a “map”). Opening hours for example. Today this info is either on a webpage or google maps. Sometimes contradicting each other, where a Facebook status update has the most accurate info.
My TI-83 Plus calculator from around 1999. Still use it today, almost a quarter of a century later!
I have a similar abacus (japanese soroban) and use it to keep scores in board games by dedicating say three columns per player (they will never get more than 999 points). It is such an underrated piece of "technology". Calculating actions (e.g "add 45", "subtract 13") become finger movements. You can "feel" what the actions represent in finger movement. This enables you to calculate very fast, faster than typing it into a calculator. I am sure the roman calculators (the humans operating the abacus) got really fast at this, maybe even to the point of internalizing a mental abacus. Why aren't we building "products" from lego rather than seeing them as toys? The promise of 3D-printers haven't really played out, but it would be interesting if we had a material like lego to build some of the things we need. Lego is infinitely customizable and each brick would be potentially useful in any product that you would build. Of course there are some obvious downsides but I think the idea of an ecosystem of standardized, "open" and adaptable materials is super interesting.
Tesla is trying any means necessary since they know that Swedish labour laws are strong: if they do not have a union agreement, workers are allowed to strike (indefinitely). This vacuum we are now in is probably very costly for Tesla so I at this point I think it is an ideological/personal battle..
Exactly! Peak gives a sense of relief.. Better is of course relative, should we be happy that we are no longer stepping further down on the gas pedal, but still going at dangerously high speed? When where we should really be is at least in full stop, preferable going in reverse..
I was a psytrance DJ through much of the 00s and what a wonderful and diverse genre this is :) It takes some time getting used to though. My first listening experience I basically denounced it as "too hard" and noisy but my general love for electronic music made me keep listening and all of a sudden I was hooked. I listened to and played mostly goa-trance due to its very melodic nature, it really has something unique with its focus on melody (with non-western scales) and not just squeeky and strange sounds (which I do like). The explosion of "Full-on" in the mid 00s made me loose interest and it dominated the parties I went to and played at. Full on has this particular annoying feature of being, yes full on, hardly any buildups just cheap, cheesy breaks and "in your face" to please the fistbumping crowd. I still occasionally listen when there is an interesting release but this is mainly a fading memory from my youth..
This is in general a great guide, very impressive! I mean it even includes Suomisaundi (one of my favourites) which is such a small subsub-genre, back in the days it encompassed maybe a handful of artists on 1-2 record labels. The sometimes narrow BPM ranges I'd say you can ignore. The genre is very experimental so you can have pretty much any of the faster sub-genres speed down and then just call it "* chill". This was often the case when albums were made in the 00s, that an artist would end with a chill track, many times these were their best outputs and sometimes lead to new side projects.
I don't want to pick on the song selection but there is at least one major artist missing here. Shpongle is probably the most successful psychill artist of all time and one of my most powerful musical experiences of any genre. Start with "Tales of the inexpressible" and work your way through their catalog :)
Live a simpler life. Optimize for spare time. Then you don't need all these tools to organize your chaos. Periodically, I get an urge to "organize" my life but when I start writing down digital TODO lists and fill in calendars they end up gaping almost empty, so I stop. Today, if I need to do something I write it down on a post-it and put it on my desk (right now there are two post-its with four bullet points). Those few time-sensitive events gets an event in the calender with associated alarm (this week it was two events).
Yes I do things, but those are hobbies and occasional hangouts, not hard to remember! :)
Exactly! There is such a shift in paradigm that needs to happen here and the only project I know of that is moving in this direction is Unison.
I don't want to edit a "file", I want to edit these two functions that exist in some module(s), why can't I just see those two?
I constantly jump between many different languages and the cognitive load is noticeable: was it "!=", "/=" or "~="? Why am I writing/viewing ascii art when I'm coding?
If I am most comfortable/fluent viewing python, why can't I view a javascript source as python?
I think the remaining challenge is what sort of projections are the best/most useful? How do we manipulate these projections? I have played around with these ideas and made an AST viewer for the browser where you could configure exactly how a node was represented (using CSS) and navigation was done in block mode (node traversal) but I found it really hard to build an editing experience that felt smooth..
In case anyone missed it, the alfalfa is shipped to Saudi Arabia to feed cattle. Complete madness!

I live in a small town of around 2000. Within 5-10 minutes walking I got: a restaurant, a cafe, a grocery store, pizzeria and kindergarten. Within 5-10 minutes of biking I have: public library, another grocery store, two bars and a restaurant. Public transport is readily available to take me to the neighbouring hustle-bustle (pop. 600'000) within 35 minutes. So my town is 50 times smaller than your Spanish example but it is perfectly possible to have all these services at this scale as well!
Something tells me the "true cost" of fossil fuels in this graph are not fairly calculated..

Why? Here are some reasons in no particular order!
* +20 years of muscle memory
* Total customizability, when you get good at configuring and writing small scripts it feels like you can do anything. VSC feels like it's all about plugins
* On the fly remaps. E.g writing latex and quickly add insert mode remaps for things you are currently writing about ":imap CO2 $CO_{2}" for a prettier version of CO2 as you type. Playing around with Zig? With ":map ,t :w<CR>:!zig test %<CR>" you can type ,t and it saves and tests the current file.
* Write simple scheme files for pattern matching with Treesitter to conceal unnecessary clutter in some programming languages
* Snippets, other editors have this as well but with Luasnip I program every aspect of how it works exactly as I want it
* Even with a bunch of plugins it starts in less than 100ms

Until these ideas go into mainstream, treesitter has resulted in some interesting improvements to e.g Neovim. I use it extensively for AST based selection/navigation and along with conceal I can hide/transform a lot of noise characters in text source code.
I think you can even take the smallest web app and make it into a more "real world" project. Take for example the classic counter demo. Try adding these features:
* i18n/l10n: Display labels in different language and correctly format the counter value for your user (1'000 vs 1.000). A user should be able to switch country
* Allow users to register and create their own counters
* Store the counter value in database hosted somewhere
* Store content stuff (title, labels, etc.) in a headless CMS and integrate with it.
* Set up build pipelines for your project
* ...and more :)

I guess the confusing part for many is how an expression can also be a statement. But if you look at the ExpressionStatement you see that an expression is NOT also a statement. It's just the wrapper statement that makes it look so!
I like the idea but what is a side-project really? Ideally I would not want to see commercial products or MVPs with start up intentions!
Stepping out of the house I always bring my own unscented soap. Perfume allergy is a reality for thousands of people. If I accidentally wash my hands with scented soap I got 20-30 minutes of itchy nose and wheezing before the smell wears off :/
I cannot upvote this enough. We have a strict budget left for carbon emissions. It's not an exam in the future that we are currently studying for to pass. But thinking in budget terms also means talking about budgeting/rationing but I guess it needs to become really bad before we even dare to touch that...
A bit meta so maybe not exactly what you're after but The Nature of Tomorrow was super interesting (a book about books about the future).
I'm also approaching 40 and dusted of some old books from uni last year. One of which was about linear algebra, it was incredibly dense and proof heavy and I remember not understanding what I was doing, mostly remembering formulas. Then I watched 3Blue1Brown video series on linear algebra and things just clicked, almost 20 years after that first algebra class :)
