Putting a tracking pixel in a readme is a new one, wow. I would never want to clone that project in case I accidentally open the readme

Thank you for this comment. I relate to every one of your points.

Especially the silent/forced updates. It can be SO bad in games. since the OP is about blizzard- look at hearthstone. Its a card game where you can’t trade, and the cards you sank money into can just get nerfed when the next expansion comes out. It amazes me this is acceptable to some.

What are you monitoring your monolith for? For microservices you can monitor specific metrics related to the exact function, and perform health checks, scaling events accordingly.

For monoliths you cant be as specific. “Is the response a 500” doesn’t really cut it. “Average request latency” for scaling doesn’t cut it when some of your queries are reads and then some are completely unrelated mass joins.

As a consumer id just wait for indie games and smalltime books to become free. This ruins the demand and people have much less incentive to create. In general taking money away and giving it to a government is not a productive solution and definitely hinders creativity

Are there any real world examples?

This looks extremely useful but reading some of this still leaves me questioning how will I know when to reach for perf out of the toolbox

Is deranking considered censorship? On what basis does RT need to be the top result?

Now of course I know its been purposely deranked. But couldn’t google claim its not censored if it exists but buried in results?

I want to know what legal basis we have for asserting certain sites must have the highest rank on google for certain searches. I’m assuming there isn’t one.

Going IPv6 Only 4 years ago

Is it possible to get an allocation in ipv6? And what are the steps you’d take to do so?

Im interested in making my projects ipv6 only if I can have a long term address allocation which I cant do in ipv4

A common problem. Ive been reclaiming my attention two ways. No push notifications except for trusted contacts via message/call. And the other side, choosing to read a chapter on my e-reader before social media. And social media is limited to useful dev subreddits and hackernews. I have basically no friends, so i must be pretty boring.

Ive deleted Facebook, instagram. I switched my email over to paid fastmail, use apple maps. If there was a way around apples walled garden I’d be happy (no pinephone where I am)
